In my classroom, I often have a limited amount of time to cover all that I need to in a lesson. At
the beginning of the school year, it was imperative that I taught my students my expectations,
rules, and routines so that I did not have to continuously repeat myself and take away from
instructional time.
Many of my students benefit from directions that are presented both verbally and written.
When new concepts are presented, I typically model my thinking for students using Think Aloud
strategies. When appropriate, I model concepts for students using a Fishbowl. After verbal
directions are given, I write them on the SmartBoard so that students may refer back to the
directions when needed. I also circulate around the classroom as students are working to
ensure that I am available to answer questions.
In the future, I would like to create anchor charts with my students to display in my classroom.
Anchor charts can help students to refer back to previous lessons/strategies
