Feast of Saint Anthony: St. Anthony of Padua was
born in 1195, 13 years after St. Francis, in Lisbon,
Portugal. St. Anthony joined the Augustinian canons in
1210 and studied theology. Then in 1220 he changed his
baptismal name from Fernando to Anthony
when joining the Franciscans with the hope of
preaching to the Saracens and offering his life
as a martyr. On the way to Morocco, he
became seriously ill and was sent back to
Portugal but the ship lost its course and finally
arrived in Sicily. There St. Francis of Assisi
learned of the talent of St. Anthony and
allowed him to teach theology to the friars and
to preach in different places. But they did not
pay attention to him, so he went to preach to
the fish. On another occasion, someone saw
him praying with the baby Jesus in his arms.
That is why he is represented in that way.

1195, 13 años después de San Francisco, en Lisboa,
Portugal. San Antonio se unió a los cánones agustinos en
1210 y estudio teología. Luego en 1220 cambio su nombre
de bautismo, Fernando por el de Antonio al
unirse a los franciscanos con la esperanza de
predicar a los sarracenos y ofrecer su vida como
mártir. De camino a Marruecos, se enfermó
gravemente y se le enviaron de regreso a Portugal
pero el barco perdió su rumbo y finalmente llego
a Sicilia. Allí San Francisco de Asís conoció el
talento de San Antonio y le permitió enseñar
teología a los frailes y predicar en diferentes
lugares. Pero no le presaban atención, entonces
el fue a predicar a los peces. En otra ocasión,
alguien lo vio orando con el niño Jesús en los
brazos. Por eso se le representa de esa forma.

135. It is not helpful to dream of an idyllic and perfect love
needing no stimulus to grow. A celestial notion of earthly
love forgets that the best is yet to come, that fine wine
matures with age. As the Bishops of Chile have pointed out,
“the perfect families proposed by deceptive consumerist
propaganda do not exist. In those families, no one grows
old, there is no sickness, sorrow or death… Consumerist
propaganda presents a fantasy that has nothing to do with
the reality which must daily be faced by the heads of fami-
lies”.137 It is much healthier to be realistic about our limits,
defects and imperfections, and to respond to the call to
grow together, to bring love to maturity and to strengthen
the union, come what may.
136. Dialogue is essential for experiencing, expressing and
fostering love in marriage and family life. Yet it can only be
the fruit of a long and demanding apprenticeship. Men and
women, young people and adults, communicate differently.
They speak different languages and they act in different
ways. Our way of asking and responding to questions, the
tone we use, our timing and any number of other factors
condition how well we communicate. We need to develop
certain attitudes that express love and encourage authentic
dialogue.
137. Take time, quality time. This means being ready to
listen patiently and attentively to everything the other
person wants to say. It requires the self-discipline of not
speaking until the time is right. Instead of offering an
opinion or advice, we need to be sure that we have heard
everything the other person has to say. This means cultivat-
ing an interior silence that makes it possible to listen to the
other person without mental or emotional distractions. Do
not be rushed, put aside all of your own needs and worries,
and make space. Often the other spouse does not need a
solution to his or her problems, but simply to be heard, to
feel that someone has acknowledge their pain, their
disappointment, their fear, their anger, their hopes and
their dreams. How often we hear complaints like: “He does
not listen to me.” “Even when you seem to, you are really
doing something else.” “I talk to her and I feel like she can’t
wait for me to finish.” “When I speak to her, she tries to
change the subject, or she gives me curt responses to end
the conversation”.

135. No hacen bien algunas fantasías sobre un amor idílico y
perfecto, privado así de todo estímulo para crecer. Una idea
celestial del amor terreno olvida que lo mejor es lo que todavía
no ha sido alcanzado, el vino madurado con el tiempo. Como
recordaron los Obispos de Chile, « no existen las familias
perfectas que nos propone la propaganda falaz y consumista. En
ellas no pasan los años, no existe la enfermedad, el dolor ni la
muerte […] La propaganda consumista muestra una fantasía
que nada tiene que ver con la realidad que deben afrontar, en el
día a día, los jefes y jefas de hogar ».137 Es más sano aceptar con
realismo los límites, los desafíos o la imperfección, y escuchar el
llamado a crecer juntos, a madurar el amor y a cultivar la solidez
de la unión, pase lo que pase.
136. El diálogo es una forma privilegiada e indispensable de
vivir, expresar y madurar el amor en la vida matrimonial y
familiar. Pero supone un largo y esforzado aprendizaje. Varones
y mujeres, adultos y jóvenes, tienen maneras distintas de
comunicarse, usan un lenguaje diferente, se mueven con otros
códigos. El modo de preguntar, la forma de responder, el tono
utilizado, el momento y muchos factores más, pueden
condicionar la comunicación. Además, siempre es necesario
desarrollar algunas actitudes que son expresión de amor y hacen
posible el diálogo auténtico.
137. Darse tiempo, tiempo de calidad, que consiste en escuchar
con paciencia y atención, hasta que el otro haya expresado todo
lo que necesitaba. Esto requiere la ascesis de no empezar a
hablar antes del momento adecuado. En lugar de comenzar a dar
opiniones o consejos, hay que asegurarse de haber escuchado
todo lo que el otro necesita decir. Esto implica hacer un silencio
interior para escuchar sin ruidos en el corazón o en la mente:
despojarse de toda prisa, dejar a un lado las propias necesidades
y urgencias, hacer espacio. Muchas veces uno de los cónyuges
no necesita una solución a sus problemas, sino ser escuchado.
Tiene que sentir que se ha percibido su pena, su desilusión, su
miedo, su ira, su esperanza, su sueño. Pero son frecuentes
lamentos como estos: « No me escucha. Cuando parece que lo
está haciendo, en realidad está pensando en otra cosa ». « Hablo
y siento que está esperando que termine de una vez ». « Cuando
hablo intenta cambiar de tema, o me da respuestas rápidas
para cerrar la conversación ».

The duties of an attorney

What are the functions of a lawyer, of an attorney? Lawyers (or advocates) advise individuals
on legal issues and disputes, and represent them. They also advocate for their clients in court
by presenting evidence and making legal arguments. Perhaps this description will help us to
understand why the Holy Spirit is called Advocate by Jesus
When Jesus repeatedly uses legal vocabulary, it is clear that He wants to teach us something.
Referring to the Holy Spirit, He says: When he comes, he will convince the world concerning
sin and righteousness and judgment (Jn 16: 8). Conviction is “the fact of officially being found to
be guilty of a particular crime.” This is the first manifestation of our encounter with the Holy
Spirit. when the Holy Spirit comes, he shows us how wrong we are about sin. If we were to give
ourselves to Jesus and we are willing to experience Him, the first step to take is a true realization
of our sinfulness and unworthiness in the face of God’s unconditional love in Christ.
This first conviction of our sins is so fundamental because unless we realize that we are sinners, we will not feel the need for a savior. This is
what happens in many spheres of our modern culture, like in the New Age Movements; they do not see the need of a savior. At any rate, if we
are not aware of our moral sinfulness, also do not see the need for conversion. Thus, we remain in our ignorance and sinfulness.
Without a real awareness of our sinful condition, there can be no hope of repentance or conversion. Without repentance, there will also be no
gratitude for Christ’s sacrifice.
Of course, the Evil One is also interested in pointing to our sins, but clearly aiming to discourage us. This is the task of the Accuser, the
Persecutor, exactly opposite to that of the Advocate.
The above explains why in our mystical experience and in the mystical experience of any sensitive person, first we are given a realistic vision of
our life, weakness and, particularly, the consequences of our sins. Our father Founder calls Didactic Lesson to this first conclusion we draw
from our mistakes and sins with the help of our Advocate. The Holy Spirit continues giving us his positive advice pointing at the the really
important things in our mind (Mystical Recollection) and heart (Mystical Quietude).
The beginning of wisdom, the beginning of true religion, therefore, is when we realize that as humans we are limited and shortsighted, and so
we allow God to show us how to be the people of God that He has created us to be.
In these conditions, we are ready for the purificative action and the attraction of the Holy Spirit, the only one capable of attract and
convert hearts, as Pope Francis said in 2018 on his flight back from Bangladesh to Rome. So I want you to know that no one speaking by the
Spirit of God will curse Jesus, and no one can say Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 12: 3). The Holy Spirit attracts us to God
showing us his great love for us. Why do we seek Jesus? For above all else, the forgiveness of sins. We seek Jesus so that we might be under
God’s grace, mercy and company.
The Holy Spirit works in our lives, giving us glimpses of the light of God, glimpses of his presence. There is no pattern of time or place where
the Holy Spirit may bring to us the light of understanding and the strength to walk.
Even though we do not see the Holy Spirit, we are aware that He is at work in our lives. We cannot see the wind and do not know where it
comes from or where it is going but we see its effects: the leaves of the tree whisper in the breeze, trees tilt by its fury, the wind gives speed to a
sailboat and produces sound when blown into a musical instrument.
In the Creed we say that the Holy Spirit is the Lord, the Giver of Life, whom St Paul proclaims as the “Spirit of life” (Rom 8:2). It is particularly
in Jesus' history that the Holy Spirit discloses his life-giving power: the fruit of Mary’s womb comes to life through the power of the Holy Spirit
(Mt 1:18; cf. Lk 1:35). Jesus’ whole mission is enlivened and guided by the Holy Spirit and we learn in Christ’s encounter with the Samaritan
woman that the life that Jesus Christ gives us is a living water which satisfies man's deepest aspirations and brings him, as a son, into full
communion with God. This living and life-giving water is the Holy Spirit.

This is how our father Founder expressed it in The Heart of the Father:
In this transcendent filial image is the word Father, the only word that can preserve that bit of happiness, or joy, or
delight that we can feel of Him, in one of those delicate moments of life, in spite of whatever adversities may come.
Outside of Him, anything that is not Him, can only produce an immense and inexhaustible sadness in our hearts. That
sadness is produced by the filial fear, a fear that hurls us toward the Father with extraordinary ambition. It impresses on
our spirit a kind of jealousy; it is like a very refined sense of smell that allows us to perceive rapidly what is
useless and harmful for living holiness, with the goal of rejecting it immediately. It is a spiritual instinct, not a
rational judgment. It is an act that the Holy Spirit places in the soul of those that have been prepared for it.
This is the guidance and advice from a good attorney: highlighting for us the dangers and the authentic opportunities, the sin and the true life.
God will never reveal a weakness, a sin, or a flaw in your life just for the sake of exposing it. He always reveals a deficit because it is time to
make it right, to conform you to the image of His Son. The Holy Spirit awakens your senses to an area of your life that you need to change, and
then helps you do it.
We started by saying that a lawyer advocates for his clients by presenting evidence and making legal arguments. This is a very accurate
description of the “second function” of the Holy Spirit in the life of the disciples: He enables us to see that we do not proclaim the
Gospel alone.
This is why St Paul wrote: My speech and my proclamation were not with plausible words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit
and of power, so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God (1 Cor 2: 4f). Yes, we are merely instruments, but
this constitute a deep joy and a great privilege.
Today’s First Reading is a vibrant example of it. We see how the person of the Holy Spirit lives in everyone. Not only giving light and strength
to the Apostles when they were giving their testimony, but opening the hearts and minds to make those who listen or watch sensitive to the
humble words and deeds of the disciples.
This was the case of Lydia (Acts 16:11–15), a businesswoman from Thyatira who, with the help of the Holy Spirit, was receptive to what Paul
was sharing with her fellow countrymen. Not only that, she and her household were baptized and she used her resources to help Paul in his
missionary work.
This is why it is not enough to preach or even to do good works. In themselves, they are not sufficient, unless we complement what we say and
support it by prayer, fasting and penance, for conversion is the work of the Holy Spirit.
When hearts are coarsened by sin, we cannot listen to the Word of God even if we have a great teacher. When our minds are darkened by our
pride, we will not be able to accept and implement the truth spoken to us and manifested in the lives of those who walk in the path of Jesus.
Our task is to allow the Holy Spirit to act in us, by enlightening us, filling us with the love of the Trinity and empowering us to proclaim and act
courageously in the name of Jesus Christ.
Besides that, when we experience setbacks in our mission, vocation and relationships, we begin to doubt our capability and ourselves. Failures,
impotence and opposition can make us feel like giving up. In those moments, the Advocate gives us a new perspective, allowing to
make sense of our suffering and perceiving its purificative value. At the same time, even if the fruits are not within our sight, the
Advocate reminds us that our God is a God of surprises.... and we all have first-hand experience of it.
It was the biggest meeting of Sam’s life, and it had gone well. He couldn’t wait to tell his wife and his boss. As he rushed out
of the office building with the rest of the team, they noticed a vacant cab. Eager to get to the airport to catch their flight
home, they rushed toward the cab. But as they made their way across the sidewalk, they inadvertently knocked over a small
produce stand. The rest of the team seemed oblivious until Sam stopped and turned around to go back. From beside the taxi
the others called out to Sam: Come on. You’ll miss your flight. Sam replied: Go ahead without me, as he made his way back
across the street toward the sidewalk covered with produce.
At that moment, he realized that the woman who had been behind the produce stand was blind. She was standing there
crying softly with tears running down her face. It’s OK, it’s OK, Sam said to her as he got down on his hands and knees and
began picking up the fruit and vegetables. There were a hundred people passing in each direction, but nobody else stopping
to help. When the fruit was all back up on the stand, Sam began neatly organizing it, setting aside anything that was spoiled.
Now he turned to the woman and asked: Are you OK? She nodded through her tears. Then, reaching for his wallet, he took
out some bills and passed them to the woman, saying: This money should cover the damages.
With that, Sam turned and began to walk away. Mister, the woman called after him, Are you Jesus?…Oh no, he replied. The
woman nodded and continued: I only ask because I prayed for Jesus to help me as I heard fruit falling all over the
sidewalk. Sam turned to leave again, only now his eyes began to fill with tears.
It was late. He had missed his flight, and because it was Friday night, all the other flights were full. Sam spent the night in a
hotel by the airport. This gave him time to think. He couldn’t get one question out of his head. Tell me, my God, what is
your next plan for me today?
In the proper time, God’s perfect timing, we will see the fruits and the reasons for all kind of suffering.
In a masterful way, Saint John Paul II summarized the two lines of action of the Advocate, to comfort and to accompany, when he told the
youth of Scotland in 1982: There is no place in your lives for apathy or indifference to the world around you. Christ counts on you, so that the
effects of His Holy Spirit may radiate from you to others and in that way permeate every aspect of the public and private sector of life.

Las obligaciones de un abogado

¿Cuáles son las funciones de un abogado, de un jurista? Los abogados (o intercesores) asesoran
a las personas sobre asuntos legales y litigios, y los representan. También abogan por sus
clientes en el juzgado, presentando evidencias y presentando argumentos legales.
Quizás esta descripción nos ayude a entender por qué Jesús llama al Espíritu Santo nuestro
Abogado.
El hecho que Cristo use repetidamente el vocabulario legal, indica que quiere enseñarnos algo.
Refiriéndose al Espíritu Santo, dice: Cuando él venga demostrará a los que son del mundo dónde
hay pecado, dónde un camino hacia la salvación y dónde una condena (Jn 16: 8).
Nos hará convictos del pecado. La convicción es "el hecho de ser oficialmente declarado
culpable de un delito en particular".
Esta es la primera manifestación de nuestro encuentro con el Espíritu Santo. cuando llega el Espíritu Santo, nos muestra cuán equivocados
estamos respecto al pecado. Si estamos dispuestos a entregarnos a Cristo y si deseamos sentir su presencia, nuestro primer paso ha de ser
tomar conciencia real de nuestro pecado y de nuestra indignidad, frente al amor incondicional de Dios en Cristo.
Esta primera convicción de nuestros pecados es tan fundamental porque, a menos que reconozcamos que somos pecadores, no sentiremos la
necesidad de un salvador. Esto es lo que sucede en muchas esferas de nuestra cultura moderna, como en los Movimientos de la Nueva Era
(New Age); no ven la necesidad de un salvador. En cualquier caso, si no somos conscientes de nuestra maldad moral tampoco veremos la
necesidad de la conversión. Así, nos quedaremos en nuestra ignorancia y pecaminosidad.
Sin una conciencia real de nuestra condición pecadora, no puede haber esperanza de arrepentimiento o conversión. Sin arrepentimiento,
tampoco habrá gratitud por el sacrificio de Cristo.
Por supuesto, el maligno también está interesado en señalar nuestros pecados, pero claramente pretende con ello desanimarnos. Esta es la
tarea del Acusador, el Perseguidor, exactamente opuesta a la del Defensor.
Lo anterior explica por qué en nuestra experiencia mística y en la experiencia mística de cualquier persona sensible, primero se nos da una
visión realista de nuestra vida, de nuestra debilidad y, en particular, de las consecuencias de nuestros pecados. Nuestro padre Fundador llama
Lección Didáctica a esta primera conclusión que extraemos de nuestros errores y pecados con la ayuda de nuestro Abogado. El Espíritu Santo
continúa brindándonos su consejo positivo al señalar las cosas realmente importantes en nuestra mente (Recogimiento místico) y en el corazón
(Quietud mística).
El comienzo de la sabiduría, el comienzo de la verdadera religión, por lo tanto, es el darnos cuenta de que, como humanos, somos limitados y
cortos de vista, y por permitimos que Dios nos muestre cómo llegar a ser el pueblo de Dios que Él espera que seamos.
En esas condiciones, estamos listos para la acción purificativa y la atracción del Espíritu Santo, el único capaz de atraer y convertir
corazones, como dijo el Papa Francisco en 2018 en su vuelo de regreso de Bangladesh a Roma. Así que quiero que sepan que nadie que hable
por el Espíritu de Dios maldecirá a Jesús, y nadie puede decir que Jesús es el Señor, sino por el Espíritu Santo (1 Cor 12: 3). El Espíritu Santo
nos atrae a Dios mostrándonos su gran amor por nosotros. ¿Por qué buscamos a Jesús? Antes que nada, por el perdón de los pecados.
Buscamos a Cristo para que podamos estar bajo la gracia, la misericordia y la compañía de Dios.
El Espíritu Santo actúa en nuestras vidas, dándonos destellos de la luz de Dios, reflejos de su presencia. No hay un patrón único de tiempo o de
lugar para la forma como el Espíritu Santo nos trae la luz para comprender y la fuerza para caminar.
Aunque no veamos al Espíritu Santo, notamos que está obrando en nuestras vidas. No podemos ver el viento y no sabemos de dónde viene ni a
dónde va, pero sí vemos sus efectos: las hojas del árbol susurran en la brisa, los árboles se inclinan por su furia, el viento impulsa a un velero y
produce sonido. cuando soplamos en un instrumento musical.
En el Credo, decimos que el Espíritu Santo es el Señor y Dador de Vida, a quien san Pablo proclama como el "Espíritu de vida" (Rom 8: 2). Es
especialmente en la historia de Jesús donde el Espíritu Santo revela su poder vivificante: el fruto del vientre de María cobra vida por obra del
Espíritu Santo (Mt 1:18; cf. Lc 1:35). Toda la misión de Cristo está animada y guiada por el Espíritu Santo y se nos dice, en el encuentro de
Cristo con la mujer samaritana que la vida que Jesucristo nos da es un agua viva que satisface las aspiraciones más profundas del hombre y lo
lleva, como hijo, a la plena comunión. con Dios. Esta agua viva y vivificadora es el Espíritu Santo.
Así lo expresó nuestro padre Fundador en El Corazón del Padre:
En esta imagen filial transcendente, está la palabra Padre, la única que puede salvar, en un momento delicado de la
vida, ese algo de felicidad, o de alegría o de gozo que de Él sentimos, a pesar de todas las adversidades. Fuera de Él,
algo que no sea Él, sólo puede producir en nuestro corazón una inmensa e inagotable tristeza. Esta tristeza es
producida por el temor filial, un temor que nos lanza hacia el Padre con una ambición extraordinaria. Imprime en
nuestro espíritu una especie de celos; es como un olfato finísimo que permite percibir rápidamente lo que
es inútil y nocivo para la vida de santidad con el fin de rechazarlo inmediatamente. Es un instinto espiritual,
no un juicio de la razón. Es un acto que pone el Espíritu Santo en el alma de quienes se han preparado para ello.
Esta es la guía y el consejo de un buen abogado: señalarnos los peligros y las auténticas oportunidades, el pecado y la vida verdadera.
Dios nunca revela una debilidad, un pecado o un defecto en nuestra vida solo por dejarla al descubierto. Él siempre señala un defecto porque es
el momento de corregirlo, de conformarme a la imagen de su Hijo. El Espíritu Santo despierta mis sentidos a un área de mi vida que debo
cambiar, y además me ayuda a hacerlo.
Comenzamos diciendo que un abogado aboga por sus clientes presentando evidencias y argumentos legales. Esta es una descripción muy
precisa de la "segunda función" del Espíritu Santo en la vida de los discípulos: Nos permite comprobar que no estamos solos al
proclamar el Evangelio.
Por eso San Pablo escribió: No les hablé ni les prediqué con palabras sabias y elocuentes, sino con demostración del poder del Espíritu, para
que la fe de ustedes no dependiera de la sabiduría humana, sino del poder de Dios. (1 Cor. 2: 4f). Sí, somos simplemente instrumentos, pero
eso constituye una alegría profunda y un gran privilegio.
La Primera Lectura de hoy es un ejemplo vibrante de ello. Vemos cómo la persona del Espíritu Santo vive en todos. No solo dando luz y fuerza
a los apóstoles cuando estaban dando su testimonio, sino abriendo corazones y mentes para lograr que quienes escuchan y observan sean
sensibles a las humildes palabras y hechos de los discípulos.
Este fue lo que ocurrió a Lydia (Hechos 16: 11–15), una empresaria de Tiatira que, con la ayuda del Espíritu Santo, se mostró receptiva a lo que
Pablo estaba compartiendo con sus paisanos. No sólo eso, ella y su familia se bautizaron y puso a disposición sus recursos para ayudar a Pablo
en su tarea misionera.
Por eso no basta predicar o incluso hacer buenas obras. En sí mismas, no son suficientes, a menos que complementemos y apoyemos lo que
decimos con oración, ayuno y penitencia, ya que la conversión es la obra del Espíritu Santo.
Cuando nuestros corazones están endurecidos por el pecado, no podemos escuchar la Palabra de Dios, aunque tengamos al lado un gran
maestro. Cuando nuestra mente se oscurece por nuestro orgullo, no podremos aceptar y poner en práctica la verdad que se nos comunica y se
manifiesta en las vidas de los que caminan en la senda de Cristo.
Nuestra misión es permitir que el Espíritu Santo actúe en nosotros, iluminándonos, llenándonos con el amor de la Trinidad y capacitándonos
para proclamar y actuar con valor en el nombre de Jesucristo.
Además de eso, cuando experimentamos contratiempos en nuestra misión, vocación y relación con los demás, comenzamos a dudar de nuestra
capacidad y de nuestra misión. Los fracasos, la impotencia y la oposición pueden hacernos sentir deseosos de rendirnos. En esos momentos,
el Abogado nos da una nueva perspectiva, que nos permite hallar sentido a nuestro sufrimiento y percibir su valor
purificativo. Al mismo tiempo, incluso si los frutos no están a la vista, el Abogado nos recuerda que nuestro Dios es un Dios de sorpresas... y
de ello todos tenemos experiencia de primera mano.
Había sido la reunión más importante en la vida de Jaime, y le había ido muy bien. Esperaba con ansia decírselo a su
esposa y a su jefe. Cuando salió corriendo del edificio de oficinas con el resto del equipo, vieron un taxi vacío.
Esperando llegar al aeropuerto para tomar el vuelo a casa, se apresuraron hacia el taxi. Pero cuando cruzaron la acera,
sin darse cuenta, tiraron un pequeño puesto de fruta. El resto del equipo pareció no darse cuenta hasta que Jaime se
detuvo y se dio la vuelta para regresar. Desde el taxi, los otros llamaron a Sam: ¡Vamos! ¡Vas a perder el vuelo! Jaime
respondió: Sigan sin mí, mientras se dirigía a la acera donde cayó la fruta.
En ese momento, se dio cuenta de que la mujer del puesto de fruta era ciega. Estaba parada allí llorando
silenciosamente y las lágrimas se deslizaban en su rostro. No pasa nada, no pasa nada, le dijo Jaime al ponerse de
rodillas y comenzar a recoger las frutas y verduras. Había cientos personas pasando en todas direcciones, pero nadie
se detuvo para ayudar. Cuando la fruta volvió a estar colocada en el carrito, Jaime comenzó a organizarla
cuidadosamente, retirando todo lo que se había estropeado. Entonces se volvió a la mujer y le preguntó: ¿Se
encuentra bien? Ella asintió entre lágrimas. Luego, buscando su billetera, sacó algunos billetes y se los dio a la mujer,
diciendo: Esto creo que cubrirá los daños.
Entonces, Jaime dio media vuelta y comenzó a alejarse. ¡Señor! Le dijo la mujer llamándolo. ¿Es usted Cristo? ... Oh
no, respondió él. La mujer asintió y continuó: Lo pregunto porque rogué para que Jesús me ayudara mientras sentía
que la fruta caía por la acera. Jaime se volvió para irse otra vez, solo que ahora sus ojos comenzaron a llenarse de
lágrimas.
Era tarde. Había perdido el vuelo y, como era viernes por la noche, todos los demás vuelos estaban llenos. Jaime pasó
la noche en un hotel junto al aeropuerto. Eso le dio ocasión para pensar. No podía quitar de su cabeza una pregunta.
¿Dios mío, cuál es tu próximo plan para mí hoy?
A su debido tiempo, en el momento perfecto de Dios, veremos los frutos y las razones de todo tipo de sufrimiento.

De manera magistral, San Juan Pablo II resumió las dos líneas de acción del Abogado, consolar y acompañar, cuando habló en 1982 a la
juventud de Escocia: No hay lugar en sus vidas para la apatía o la indiferencia hacia el mundo que les rodea. Cristo cuenta con ustedes para
que los efectos de su Espíritu Santo puedan irradiarse de ustedes a otros y, de ese modo, permear todos los aspectos de la vida pública y
privada.
