Vespucci
Welcome to future readers, my name is
Amerigo Vespucci. I was born in, 1451 in
Florence, Italia. Although I was born in
Italia, but I become a Spanish citizen in
the year 1505. I have thought that
by writing this diary is to record of all
the places that I have been to
over my many voyages and expedition
trips. But to make this diary
make sense I will tell the story from the
beginning, before I started
embarking on the journeys.

Late 1491

Not really sure what day or month it is

now, but today I’ve met with
Giannotto Berardi, who have recently
been partly engaged in fitting
out ships and one of those ships
happened to be the ship of the
famous Christopher Columbus, which I
think that it’s pretty interesting too, to
meet one of the most famous explorers
ever.

Early 1499

I was task by the king of Spain to be

the pilot of one of their ships
to journey to Hispaniola and places
somewhere further south to
explore more areas and charting maps
after Columbus returned with
nothing after his third voyage.

May 18, 1499

After Columbus started 7 years ago,

today I will finally get to start
my very first journey under the
Spanish. It is my very first, so it is
quite frightening. We left from the port
of Cadiz and
We are going sail from there with
capitan Alonso Ojeda down to and
along the west coast of Africa then we
are projected to cross the
Atlantic within one or two days.

June 12, 1499

After about 24 days in the ocean, our

fleets have finally reached the
new world. Right now we have split up
with Capitan Ojeda and are
currently travelling downwards, while
the others are heading Eastwards. When
we sailed along the coast during the day
or landed during the day we’ve seen
many of new types of animals and plants
that we are unable to find back home.

Night of May 13, 1499

Tonight, the skies are very clear on the

island we are resting on so I
decided to get out my scopes and do
some stargazing and I got to mapped
some new star constellations. Actually
these new constellations are somewhat
different than what I usually seen back
in Europe, During the day we’ve
encountered many native tribes,
Each tribe are very distinctive from one
another as well and it’s

amazing to find how they are so unique.

On the island today we have
also met this one tribe with a very tall
women, they were extremely tall, even to
us.

May 15, 1499

Today is a complete disaster, after I
tried to have a friendly conversation
with the locals, it eventually failed at
keeping my men in check, and they just
head out and tried to kidnapped the
native women back to Spain for an
obvious reasons behind my back. Right
now we are back in the sea because the
men chased us out of their island.

June 4, 1500

After we regrouped with Capitan Ojeda

20 days ago, we have finally returned
safely back to Spain. Although I might
have found many interesting things
about this new location, there is however
many mistakes as well and I felt
disappointed by it. Currently I am on
my way to meet the king and queen of
Spain again to ask for their finance
support before I headed out for my next
trip.

June 5, 1500

Another day of disappointment for me,

the king and queen of spain is not
interested in financing the next trip.
However there are some good news as
well, the king of Portugal has heard
about what I have done so he is willing
to help out with the next trip finances.
Right now I am on my way to Lisbon
with my crew to meet the king.

May 15, 1501

After almost one year of preparation for

our next journey to India, now we are
ready to set off from the port of Lisbon
under Portugal. We did exactly the same
as last time by sailing down the coast of
Africa and we are on the way to cross
the Atlantic within the next 3 days,
although right now I am not in the
control of the expedition due to the
request from the king.

June 7, 1501

23 days after we set sail from Lisbon,

we have finally reached India. To be
honest, this trip is more pleasant and
faster than the last one but anyways it
is good. During the trip, most of the
Portuguese officers wanted me to take
control of the expedition, so I agreed.
Right now we are travelling even
further down to the south.

Night of June 9, 1501

Tonight reminds me of the last trip

where I gazed at the stars, and now I
am doing the same. Once I finished I
took what I have seen today and
compared what I have in the notes from
last trip along with the fact that we did
not found those riches we were said we
are going to find, it just makes me
wonder that, are we in the right place?
August 12, 1502

After many countless explorations along

with many errors over the past year of
this place we have found over 2 years
ago is not actually India. I, along with
the entire crew of mine had realize and
had came to the conclusion that this is
no small island, but instead, an entirely
new continent. We should have known
this a long time ago, but it is alright.
Now we can prove that Columbus was
wrong about this place.

July 22, 1502

After we have left home for so long, now

we are finally back. For the past couple
of weeks on the way back, I have been
thinking about what should it be named,
since it is new I might as well as call it
Mundus Novus. Right now I am about to
head to the king to report on what I
have found over the last year including
various types of precious stones and of
course the new world. This is where it
must come to a close, hope you have

Voyage and there might be more quest
