ADMISSION 2019–20

The foundation of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University (originally known as Agra


University) was laid on the 1st of July, 1927, as a result of hectic efforts of a band of
enthusiastic educationists like Rev. Canon A.W. Davis, Shri Munshi Narain Prasad
Asthana, Dr. L.P. Mathur, Shri Lala Dewan Chand, Shri Rai Bahadur Anand Swaroop and
Dr. Brajendra Swaroop.
Original jurisdiction of University extended over United Provinces of Agra, Central India
and Rajputana with 14 affiliated colleges and 2530 students of which, 1475 students
belonged to United Provinces. Initially, there were only four faculties in the University viz.
Arts, Sciences, Commerce and Law. Faculties of Medicine (1936), Agriculture (1938),
Home Science (1980), Basic Sciences (1981), Fine Arts (1982) and Management (1994)
were added subsequently.

A decisive characteristic in influencing the education of an academic institution is the


pursuit of excellence and consistent adherence to high standard in terms of imparting
knowledge promoting research. During last 90 years the University has endeavored to
keep adopting these high ideas and has established rich traditions and evolved respect from
the intellectual community. University has sincerely served the cause of higher education
in northern India. The ancient principle of integrating ethical and moral values in
education has been the Endeavour of the University. To inculcate these essential values in
its students academicians have been assiduously trying to sharpen the content and
curriculum of the University.

The Agra University, Agra was renamed as Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra from
24.09.1995 vide U.P. Govt. Notification No. 33/XVII-V-1-1(ka)-43-1996, dated
06.01.1996). The University now caters to the educational need of the eight districts of
Agra & Aligarh Division: Agra, Aligarh, Mainpuri, Hathras, Firozabad, Etah, Kasganj and
Mathura. Besides, the University is proud of having affiliated to it, Sarojini Naidu Medical
College, which is one of the oldest Medical Institute of the country. At present university
have approx 1000 affiliated colleges and 18 residential Departments / Institutes spread out
in its four residential campus viz. Paliwal Park Campus, Khandari Campus, Civil Lines
Campus and Chhaleshar Campus. Furthermore, this university affiliates colleges of
Homeopathy, extending all over the State of U.P.

The University is steadily surging ahead as a centre for higher scientific vocational and job
oriented education and innovative research. The goal of the University is to innovate in the
field of education and to become a centre of excellence both nationally and internationally.
The University is not only confined to impart quality education but also to satisfy the
burning desire of the students who are exploring the creative intellect and learning attitude
of the students. The University is making every effort to fulfill the spirit of University
motto "Tamso Ma Jyotirgamay" moving from darkness to light.

On-line applications are invited for admission to Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate
courses being run in the Residential Wing/ Affiliated Colleges of the University.
Eligibility criterion for admission is specified in the Brochure and on the University
Website www.dbrau.org.in.

Initially candidate has to complete the Web Registration Form and thereafter
Application Form.

Then candidate has to pay online fee, Rs. 1000=00 for General & OBC Candidates
(including Web Registration) and Rs. 700=00 for SC/ST candidates (including Web
Registration).

Candidates are required to submit separate application-form for each course (With same
Registration number).

The hard copy of the signed application form along with necessary qualifying documents

Eligibility: The minimum qualification for admission to M.Phil Course shall be:

1. Master’s Degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent
grade ) or an equivalent foreign degree and;
2. An aggregate of at least 55% of marks in B.Sc. and 10+2 levels taken together or
at least 50% marks in the two examinations separately.
3. Admission to M.Phil (Mathematics) shall be open to students who have done
post graduation in any branch of Mathematical Science
(Mathematics/Statistics/Operations Research/Computer Science/Computer
Applications)

Admission: The selection of the candidates shall be made on the basis of written test. The
Admission Committee, with the permission of the Vice Chancellor, may waive any of the
conditions mentioned under 2 above.

M.Sc. (Mathematics)

No. of Seats: 20 Duration: 2 Years (4 semesters)

Eligibility: The minimum qualification for admission to M.A./M.Sc. Course shall be: 1.
Three year Bachelor’s Degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects in all three Years 2.
Either an average of at least 55% marks in B.Sc. or Intermediate Examination taken
together at least or 50% marks in B.Sc. and 2nd division in Intermediate separately.

Admission: The selection of the candidates will be made on the basis of merit/ written test
conducted by the University.

Department of Physics
M. PHIL. (PHYSICS)

No. of Seats: 08 Duration: 2 semesters

Eligibility: The minimum qualification for admission to M.Phil. Physics shall be:
a. M.Sc. in Physics OR in allied subjects of Physics, Viz., Applied physics,
Electronics, Nano Science, Material Science, Nuclear physics, Biophysics,
Instrumentation, etc. with at at least 55% marks.
b. Either 55% in B.Sc. (10+2+3) / and second division in intermediate or 50% marks
in each of these two examinations separately.

Admission: The admission of candidates shall be made on the basis of Written Test/ Merit
and Interview conducted by the University.

M.Sc. (Physics)

No. of Seats: 20 Duration: 2 Years (4 semesters)

Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree (Three year) with at least 50% marks in aggregate with
physics (Instrumentation/Optical Instrumentation/Biophysics as one of the subject .

Admission: The admission of candidate shall be made on the basis of Academic merit and
interview/ written test conducted by the University

Department of Chemistry
M. Phil. (Chemistry)

No. of Seats: 10 Duration: 2 semesters

Eligibility: Master’s degree in Chemistry with at least 55% marks.

Admission: The selection of the candidate will be made on the basis of written test/merit
and personal interview.

The M. Phil. Program shall consist of two semesters. The first semester shall have three
theory papers which shall be common to all the M. Phil. Students. The second semester
shall have review writing and dissertation work. In addition to these papers, there shall be
periodical tests, seminars, dissertation and viva-voce examination.

M. Sc. Chemistry

No. of Seats: 15 Duration: 2 Years (4 semesters)

Eligibility: B.Sc. three year degree with Chemistry as one of the main subjects securing at
least 55% of marks in aggregate as well as 55% marks in Chemistry in theory papers.

Admission: The admission of candidate shall be made on the basis of Entrance Test
conducted by the University/ Merit List.
Department of Pharmacy
B. Pharm
No. of Seats: 60 Duration: 4 Years (8 semesters)

For Admission to first year of B.Pharm. candidate must have clearly passed intermediate
examination of U.P. Board or 10+2 level examination or its equivalent from any
recognized Board/ University without grace in required each compulsory subjects and one
optional subject as given in table.1 and securing minimum 45% marks (40% marks foe
SC/ST Category Candidates) in Aggregate in required three Subjects.

ADVANCE DIPLOMA IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (ADIT)

No. of Seats: 30 Duration: 1 Years (2 semesters)

Eligibility: A Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) or an equivalent degree (including medicine,


technology etc.) in any discipline from a recognized University.

Admission: Admission to the program shall be provided through the Entrance Test/Merit
as conducted by the University.
Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Animation and Web Development (PGDCA & WD)

No. of Seats: 20 Duration: 2 Years (4 semesters)

Eligibility: A Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) or an equivalent degree in Science discipline

2. Either an average of 55% marks in two examinations prior to master’s degree i.e.
Intermediate/Higher Secondary and Bachelor’s Degree examination counted
together or 50% marks in each of the above two examinations separately.

M. Sc. (Zoology)

(Specialization in Environmental Biology or Molecular Cell Biology)

Eligibility: The minimum qualification for admission to Master Course in Zoology shall be
Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 50% marks with Zoology as one of the subjects.

Admission: On the basis of Merit/Written test conducted by the University

Eligibility: The minimum qualification for admission to M. Phil. Course shall be:

M. Sc. (Biotechnology)

No. of Seats: 20 Duration: 2 Years (4 semesters)

Eligibility: The minimum qualification for admission to Master’s Course in Bio-


technology shall be any one of the following:

1. Bachelor’s degree with Botany/Zoology as one of the subjects with min 50% marks.
2. B.E./B. Tech. (Chemistry, Bio-chemical Engineering), B. V. Sc./M.B.B.S.
(Biotechnology) with minimum 50% marks.
3. B.Sc. (Honors) degree in any of the following subjects with a minimum 50% marks.
Bio-technology, Bio-chemistry, Biophysics, Micro-biology, Zoology, Botany,
Geology, Physics, and Chemistry.

Admission: The selection of the candidate shall be made on the basis of Merit/ written test.
The admission test shall be of B.Sc. standard.

Eligibility: The minimum qualification for admission to Master’s degree course in


Environmental Science shall be:
(a) Bachelor’s degree (Three Year) with 50% marks in aggregate with Chemistry/
Zoology/ Botany/ Forestry /Mathematics/Physics/ Environmental Science as one
of the subjects.
(b) Bachelor’s degree (Three Year) in any one of the following subjects: Bio-
technology, Micro-biology, Biomedical Science, Bio-chemistry, Life Science,
Biophysics, Forestry, Environmental Science, Geology and Home Science with
50% marks in aggregate will also be eligible.
(c) Either an average of 55% marks in two examinations prior to the Bachelor’s degree
i.e. High School and Intermediate or Bachelor’s Degree examinations counted
together or 50% marks in each of the above examination separately.
(d) B.Sc. (Honors School)(Three Year) in any one of the following: Environmental
Science, Biotechnology, Bio-chemistry, Bio-physics, Micro-biology, Zoology,
Botany, Physics, Forestry, Geology, Home Science, and Chemistry with 50%
marks in aggregate will also be eligible.
(e) B.E/B.Tech. Degree in any on Environmental Engineering, Biotechnology
Engineering and Fire Engineering with 50% marks in aggregate will also be
eligible.

MASTER OF HOME SCIENCE (M.Sc. H.Sc.) GENERAL

No. of Seats: 25 Duration: 2 Years (4 semesters)

Eligibility: A Candidate who has passed (With at least 50% marks) Bachelor of Home
Science (T.D.C.) Examination of the University or an examination of any other University
as equivalent there to may be admitted to first Semester of M.Sc. Home Science.

20 percent seats at Postgraduate level are allotted to the candidate belonging to other
Universities (Not more than one student from one University). Admission of the outside
student is made on reciprocal recognition of the degree.

Admission: on the basis of academic merit/written test. A student has to secure minimum
pass marks (33%) in the test to qualify for the admission.

MASTER OF HOME SCIENCE (M.Sc. H.Sc.) SPECIALIZATION

Eligibility: A Candidate who has passed Bachelor of Home Science (TDC) Examination of
the University with at least 50% marks or an examination of any University as equivalent
thereto is eligible to appear for admission test.
20 percent seats at Postgraduate level are allotted to the candidate belonging to other
Universities (Not more than one student from one University). Admission of the outside
student is made on reciprocal recognition of the degree.

Admission: on the basis of academic merit/written test. A student has to secure minimum
pass marks (33%) in the test to qualify for the admission.

Admission:- Admission to M.Sc. H.Sc. is done on the basis of admission test/academic


merit only. 09 seats of specialization shall be filled from the list of 34 successful
candidates as per their merit and options.

Admission: on the basis of academic merit/written test. A student has to secure minimum
pass marks (33%) in the test to qualify for the admission.

 Reservation and relaxation of marks as per Govt. Norms. Academic merit as per
previous two exams (High School50% & Inter 100%) for B.Sc. Inter 505 & B.Sc.
