Society (NJHS).
The awards were present-
ed in formal ceremonies at
Rose State College in Mid-
west City and Oral Roberts
University.
"We are so proud of these
EPIC students who have
earned this prestigious honor
by committing themselves
to the highest levels of aca-
demic, social, civic and ethi-
cal achievement," said EPIC
Assistant Superintendent of
Instruction Bart Banfield.
The NHS was founded
in 1921, while NJHS was
founded at 1929. Both orga-
nizations place scholarship,
service, leadership, char-
acter and citizenship at the
center of their core values.
It is estimated that approxi-
mately 1 million students
take part in honor society ac-
tivities. NHS and NJHS are
located in all 50 states, the
District of Columbia, Puerto
Rico, other U.S. territories
and Canada.
Each EPIC NHS induct-
ee receives a certificate, a
membership pin and the

work EPIC students have put

"NHS and NJHS mem-
bers get access to college
admission and financial aid
planning, access to service
projects, scholarship poten-
tial and leadership devel-
opment," Powell said. "So
earning membership into
these organizations is about
more than just being on an
honor roll. It's about prepar-
ing for future success."
