Om Dayal College of Architecture(ODCA), Uluberia is a smart, innovative and promising institution aiming to
guide its students in the best possible way and help them mould themselves into responsible adults. At
ODCA, we ensure both the students and faculty are provided with opportunities for development, through
academics and practice.
We are proud to have a legacy of students who have not only achieved their goals but have also been
exposed to working with eminent architects.
ODCA has been one of the first private architectural colleges in West Bengal to have successfully conducted
annual programs for the architecture students and thereby giving them opportunities to interact with eminent
people from various fields. And with a positive note, we hope that this year’s event-ARCHITECT OF THE
TIMES 2019 is successful and informative for all the participants.

THE PROGRAM
We, at ODCA have been successfully organizing annual events that try to bridge the gap between the
academics and the professional field for the students along with providing them to interact with their peer .This
year we have also tried to provide such opportunity to the students of various architectural colleges. With the
advancement of time, being updated with the best practices has become a requirement in every field.
Students are expected to not only share information but also to be better designers who are also sensitive to
the environment. Hence we are organizing a platform where we try to explore the various ‘FORM
DEVELOPMENTS’ of the any design problem, thereby offering the participants to interact with eminent
researchers, academicians, and professionals etc. The Student Design Workshop is a 5-day event at OM
DAYAL GROUP OF INSTITUTIONS, ULUBERIA, to be held during 2 nd – 6th July, 2019. This Student Design
Workshop is aimed to sharpen the knowledge database of the participants and carve a pathway for further
research.

WHAT TO DO ?
What does a design exercise mean to a student? How should a student think when a design problem is
introduced to him/her? How should one go about to answer the above questions?
We shall try to explore these questions through the workshop conducted by eminent people who will show the
students different perspectives of approaching design and develop consensus towards the environment. The
workshop will also intend to help the students and guide them to analyze what they visualize and how to
productively convert their visual memories to design.
Every year, we tend to explore topics that require not only a bit of refreshment but also have the scope of
more research. This year the topic that will be explored is ‘FORM DEVELOPMENT’.
Day 1 – Workshop on Design Concepts by Prof Arjun Mukerji, IIT Karagpur
Day 2/3 – Workshop on Form Generation by Ar Sabyasachi Sen, Saby Sen and Associates,
New Delhi.
Day 4/5 – Workshop on Environmental Forms by Ar.Jasleen Warwaich, JWLA, Noida

EXPECTED OUTCOME
At the end how the workshop the students will have had an experience and knowledge on the design
development and how to approach design under various circumstances. It will also help the students by
carving a new pathway for further research and advanced knowledge on the subject which may be a useful
tool in their professional career.
