1 Read the instruction manual. Write the letters (A-FD from the diagram next to
the names of the controls.

The diagram shows the controls of an automatic, right-hand drive car. On


the left of the driver's seat is the gear lever (1)-. Press the button
(2)- on the gear lever and move it to 'R'; then the car reverses. Press
the button and move the gear lever to 'D' and the car moves forwards. In
front of the driver's seat is the steering wheel (3)-. This turns the car
to the left or the right. On the left of the steering wheel is a lever, This is the

and the lights on the right-hand side of the car flash. Push the lever down

The Gotthard Base Tunnel (GBT) will be the longest railway
tunnel in the world. Engineers are building it now, in Switzerland,
