Formative ● Formative assessments are learning activities that are done in class and pertain directly to what is
being covered in the current unit. Students are expected to complete these assignments and turn

● Diverse learners with alternative grading specifications will adhere to the same types of formative
assessments as listed below with content modified per individual student. In most cases, an
additional class session will be allowed for work completion.
● The following are a list of formative assessments that students will participate in and be graded on:
○ Class Work -- Learning Menus, Math Playbooks, book work,
○ Learning Technology -- Moby Max, NewsELA, ThinkCERCA, IXL
○ Bell Ringers / Exit Slips
○ Writing Process Activities
○ Class/Small-Group Discussions
○ Small-Group/Partner Work Activities

Tests ● Quizzes are completed independently or sometimes with a partner in class at the conclusion of
every new topic / investigation to assess students growth and current knowledge of a topic.

+ Quizzes ● Tests are summative assessments completed independently at the conclusion of a unit to assess
students growth throughout the unit.
● Diverse learners will participate in tests and quizzes with modifications as specified per individual
learner.

Culminating ●

Math and Literacy projects will be assigned at least once a quarter throughout the year.
Some projects assigned will require students to complete research or additional work outside of

(Unit) class (at home).


● The History Fair project is expected to be completed completely at home. Ms. Henry will teach
Project lessons during the Social Studies block that will support students in doing their projects at home.
● Diverse learners are expected to complete a project quarterly and may receive additional supports
as needed.
Homework ● Homework is assigned every night except MOST weekends*.

● Students are assigned homework in their core classes (Reading and Math) that pertains to their
current unit being taught.
● Students are required to read at least five nights a week for a minimum of 30 minutes . Students
will be given weekly reading logs to use with the reading they are doing at home. These reading logs
are NOT optional and will be turned in for a grade at the end of each week.
● Students are assigned weekly (or bi-weekly) Spelling/Vocabulary packets.
● Homeroom teachers and the diverse learning specialists consult to determine appropriate
homework per individual students. All students have homework nightly (except Friday) as listed in
their planners.

Class Participation ● All necessary materials and supplies are at school daily. 10%
● Focus and complete tasks successfully on your own.
● Notes are taken when appropriate.
● Listen when your partner or a member of the group is speaking during small group.
● Work together to successfully complete given task and assignments during small groups.
● Homework is written down in planner.
● All assignment and notes are organized in student's binder.
● Supports will be provided to diverse learners on an as needed basis.
