RESUMEN
This article evaluates the importance of conducting an environmental impact study in the
areas of influence, in the specific case of mining companies. To make this evaluation,

methods and techniques for collecting information were used through the analysis of
documents using the documentary card, in order to verify the degree of determination in
making informed decisions that are made when mining projects are carried out. What is
aspired with this exercise is to contrast the various theories and opinions of authors to try
to get to the central idea of where it was obtained that the mining activity, present in the
conjuncture of several countries, represents an important investment sector for which
must perform an EIA from which benefits are obtained in the area of influence and also
for mining companies.
