I. Description
This activity aims to test students’ skill in writing a project-based concept of a schoolbased/community-
based problem needing immediate solution.

II. Mechanics
1. Students will be divided into groups. Each group will consist of eight (8) to ten (10) members.

2. Students are to write a concept paper or project proposal on any schoolbased/community-based


problem that they think demands attention and requires immediate solution.

3. The following parts/sections have to be present in their concept paper or project proposal:
(a) Cover Page
(b) Project Rationale/Background
(c) Project Description
(d) Project Needs and Cost
(e)

4. The concept paper should abide by the following prescribed format:


Font Style: Arial Unicode Spacing: Double-Spaced

Font Size: 12 Paper Size: Letter

5. Submission shall be on January 21, 2019. Submission may be done online or on-site depending on
the discretion of the instructor.

A. Content & Organization (60 pts)

A.1 Paper clearly provides an overview of the


project and a comprehensive
researchbased discussion of its background.
A.2 Paper states the significance of the project
i.e. a clear discussion of the relevance and
feasibility of the project.
A.3 Project objectives are realistic and attainable.
A.4 Plan of action is logically and accurately
presented.
A.5 Project discussion is of appropriate length,
and claims are substantiated by citations of
studies or statistical data.
A.6 Paper follows an organizational pattern, and
cohesive markers are effectively used for
smooth flow of ideas and easy reading.
B. Writing Mechanics (30 pts)

B.1 Paper is free from verbose expressions and


colloquial language.
B.2 Paper strictly observes proper format and
correct grammar (i.e. spelling, capitalization,
and punctuations are correctly used).
B.3 Word choice is appropriate and sentences are
well-structured
C. Documentation and Sources (10 pts)

C.1 Paper uses correct citation and reference


format, and sources used are reliable and
relevant to the topic.
