I. Objectives
a. Demonstrates understanding of common musical characteristics of the region as well as unique
characteristics of a particular Southeast Asian country
b. Performs Southeast Asian songs with appropriate pitch, rhythm, expression and style.
c. Explains how the music of a Southeast Asian country relates to its geography and culture;
d. Listens perceptively to music of Southeast Asia

II. Subject Matter


a. Topic: Music of Southeast Asia; Geographical, historical and cultural background of Cambodia
b. Reference: Music and Arts 8
c. Materials: cellphone with Southeast Asian songs and speaker

III. Procedure
A. Preparatory Activities
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Checking of attendance
4. Checking of assignments
B. Lesson Proper
a. The teacher will play a music video of indopop music “kor khor study hard”
b. Ask the students the following questions:
1. Based on the dialect what do you think is the nationality of the singers in the nursery rhymes?
2. What have you observed in their music?
3. The teacher will play different music used in particular events (wedding, religion, national
anthem) and let the students guess the song used.
4. The teacher will post pictures of particular events then will play music videos of Cambodia. Let
the students guess in what event is the music used by picking pictures posted by the teacher.

IV. Evaluation
Let the students identify the music elements used in each song and in what specific events were those songs
used.
