ANSWER:
Provision two states "the nurse’s primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, community, or population” (Winland-

Brown, Lachman, & Swanson, 2015 p. 268). This provision emphasizes the role of the nurse to care for the patient which can include an

individual, family, group, community or population. It emphasizes the nurse's obligation to assure the patient's interest, taking into consideration

honest discussions about available resources and treatment options. This provision also states the importance for the nurse to address conflicting

expectations from patients, families, and physicians, as well as conflicts arising between their own professional and personal values.

The importance to advocate for the patient's best outcome is always the priority. It is vital that nurses preserve the scope of nursing practice and the

unique contributions of nursing to patient care” (Winland-Brown et al., 2015 p. 268). The final interpretive statement for this provision involves

maintaining a therapeutic and professional relationship.

Go to the City Government building and locate the mayor. Click on him to get information about a disaster plan. Answer these 3
questions: Where will this plan be used? Who will oversee the plan? Where has it been used in the past? Place your answers below

ANSWER:

The disaster plan is to provide oversight after a hurricane. FEMA is overseeing the plan. The last time we had to use this plan was during Hurricane
Sandy in 2013.

Find the board room in the Hospital Administration Building. Click on the CEO to receive information on a new cardiac wing. Answer
these two questions: Who is the donor and what are the two next steps for hospital board project? Place your answers below.
ANSWER:
The new cardiac wing received a very generous donation from an anonymous donor. The next two now we have the funding and an approved final
plan; the next two steps for hospital board project are to start the building in the next 30 days, with a completion date of January 2017.

STATION 4 - Points Possible = 30

Locate the Smartroom in the Hospital/Urgent Care building. Find the patient sitting on the exam table; complete hand washing prior
to interacting with the patient.
You are now going to assess the patient for newly diagnosed pre-hypertension. Your patient has just had his blood pressure taken.
Click on the blood pressure cuff to get his blood pressure. What is your patient’s BP? Now click on your patient to get answers to the
following questions: What is your diet? How many times a week do you exercise? Document your answers to ALL questions below.

ANSWER:
BP: 130/90
The patient is on a low sodium diet and report as having increased his exercise to three times a week.

Go to City Government Building. Find the Public Health Office.


Find the representative who most likely would be in charge of any Zika virus outbreak in the community.
Click on the representative to get the web link to the CDC office providing oversight for Zika.
Identify the correct type of mosquito and list three symptoms indicating infection. What test is required for diagnosis and what are
the vaccine options? Place your answers below.

ANSWER: The correct type of mosquito is Aedes species mosquito (Ae. aegypti and Ae. albopictus). Most common symptoms of Zika are fever,
rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis (red eyes). Blood tests to look for Zika or other similar viruses like dengue or chikungunya. There is no vaccine
to prevent or medicine to treat Zika virus.

STATION 5 - Points Possible = 30

Go to the patient room on the first floor of the Hospital/Urgent Care building. Observe the patient in bed hooked up to an EKG. Click
on EKG machine and determine whether the EKG findings is a normal or abnormal reading. If abnormal reading what would you do
next? Place your answer below.

ANSWER:

The EKG has an abnormal reading since it shows tachycardia. I would place o2 NC 2L in order to maintain pulse ox >91%.
