Nature of Activity: Writing a report

Persons Involved: Carlton Fletcher

Personal Responsibility: Decide which news story deserves urgency

Outcome of Activity: As I was working on one article, I had another article pass my desk. It was a press
release and a current event story. To decide which one needed my attention first, I looked thoroughly at
the information that was given. Since one of the documents was a news release that was to be release at
the earliest time, I went with telling that story first. Hard news, as I have learned, usually needs to be
printed first.

Nature of Activity: Interview Gilbert Udoto

Persons Involved: Gilbert Udoto, Carlton Fletcher

Personal Responsibility: I was interview the person of interest on the spot

Outcome of Activity: Because there is a Gucci Mane concert coming up, Udoto wanted to push the event
so that it would sell more tickets. I was in the middle of a story when I was called to interview Udoto, so I
had to stop what I was doing to take the next assignment. I enjoyed talking with Udoto because it was
not only a current event story, but it had to do with pop culture entertainment news. I was able to be
more relatable with the story instead of presenting it in a typical news story.

Nature of Activity: Cover the breakfast at the Doublegate Country CLub

Persons Involved: Doublegate Country Club members, Carlton Fletcher

Personal Responsibility: Take over 25 photos and do a print story

Outcome of Activity: I am learning that with these stressful events, it is better to get some type of
enjoyment out of it, because it makes the story more easier to write. Even though I was on the job,
talking to the country club members was pleasantly enjoyable. The conversation was natural, and the
food was great.

Nature of Activity: Mental Health meeting

Persons Involved: Jere Brands, NAMI Albany

Personal Responsibility: Attend the meeting and get an angled perception of one of the persons involved

Outcome of Activity: Luckily the meeting was only an hour long. Even though I was to get someone else’s
perception of the event, I was surprised at how much information I had learned by being a bystander.
Nonetheless, I was able to get the story and I had more than enough information to do a follow up.

Nature of Activity: Group Discussion

Persons Involved: Rachel Lord, Jennifer Parks, Alan Mauldin

Personal Responsibility: Share my ideas on how to make the digital views increase

Outcome of Activity: I learned that my supervisor is a open style communicator. He enjoys and looks for
feedback on topics he has discussed. Although I am a hidden style communicator as to why I listen more
than speak, I opened up a little bit to piggy back off of my supervisor’s ideas. My response to digital
marketing was that we need more photos and less paragraph styled news because most people my age
are more visual learners.
