SCHEMATIC OF FILTRATION SYSTEM

FILTRATION OPERATING PROCEDURE

I. Preparation
- Connect all 4” reinforced rubber line to the system as designed purpose.
- Connect air lines to supply pressed air to DE Slurry skid and DE-Press. Make
sure all crow feet connectors are secured by cotter pins.
- Check for all butterfly valves in correct positions.
- Connect fluid line from feed pump to inlet fitting on DE Slurry skid and run 4”
reinforced rubber hoses from discharge fitting on filter pots to active pit.
FILTRATION PLANT

II. Operation
1. Mixing:
- Fill about 10 bbls of brine to mixing tank on Slurry skid.
- Put 6 sacks of DE powder (50lbs/s) in the tank make sure the propeller is
operated during powder feeding period.
- Keep operating propeller until the amount of DE powder is completely mixed.
2. Pressing:
- Operating hydraulic pump to press all filter plates.
- Adjust the air regulator to obtain press pressure indicating on pressure gauge in
the range of 2500 ÷ 3000 PSI.
3. Building filter cakes:
- Positioning valves on Slurry skid (mixing tank) to obtain a fluid flow circulating
from mixing tank to DE-Press and return to tank.
- Operate Wilden pump to pump mixed DE brine.
- Feed more brine to tank until getting full circulation.
4. Filtering:
- When the brine returns from DE – Press to mixing tank is quite clear, control the
valves to transfer fluid flow to filter pot.
- Stop Wilden pump and control valves to transfer brine from feed pump direct to
DE-Press.
- Open valves on top of filter vessels for blending air, valves will only be closed
when fluid comes out.
5. Measuring and checking:
- Check NTU for filtered brine by Turdibimeter.
- Check for fluid pressure-in of DE-Press. It needs to be less than 40 PSI.
- Check pressure in and out of filter pots. It will determine filter cartridge changeout.
- Space saving modular design: 9’5”L x 4’4”W x 7’5”H

- Standard 4” connection piping

- Fixed valves and pipe line provides operators easy to change

the flow when building DE cake or filtering

- Tank Capacity: 15bbls

Tank corrosion resistant design: Epoxy coated.

- Mixing rate : 20bbls/10 min.

The Slurry skid complete with:

- Wilden Pump M15
+ Flow Rate to 232 GPM
+ Max. Operating Pressure: 125 PSI (8.6 bar)
+ Max. suction lift: 19’ (5.8m)
+ Max. diameter solids: 3/8” (9.5mm) diameter

- Air Driven Mixer: Double propellers air driven mixer provides

optimal mixing operation.
Cartridges design feature:
− Convenient 40” handling
length.
− Melt sealed end cap to
prevent bypass.
− Rigid core for stability of
large surface area.
− Optimally designed for − O-ring provides positive seal to

maximum stability and eliminate bypass and allows quick

life. reliable changeout.

− Cartridge standoffs designed to void dinty fluid flow downstream

during changeout

System design feature

− Space saving modular design: 82”L x 78”W x 94”H skid mounted.
. − Crane support for easy handling
− 63 cartridges per each 28” diameter vessel
− Spring assisted quick opening and closure for easy one man
. operation
− Pressure gauges indicators maximize cartridge life
− Corrosion resistant design: epoxy coated.
− Vessel designed for 150PSI with 1/8” corrosion allowance
− Standard 4” connection piping
− Design allows rapid easy cartridge changeouts
− Single pass filtration system at high flow rate: mean less rig time
required
− Either series or parallel operation.
DE-Press is a diatomaceous earth (DE) recessed chamber
plate filter press as an economical prefilter. Diatomaceous
Earth units are often use to filter completion and work over
fluid. To operate this system, the cloth of the unit must first
be precoated with diatomaceous earth particles. This entails
passing clear fluid containing DE particles through the filter
cloth (precoating). The small DE particles bridge across the
large holes in the cloth and form the initial filtration
surface. DE is also used as an admix to help maintain a
porous cake during filtration cycle.

The unit consists:

- 28 each of filter plates: 4” x 4” size, provides

optimally filtered fluid flow rate.
- 100 Tons hydraulic jack
- Hydraulic system with air driven hydraulic pump.

The flow rate of filtered fluid: 100 – 150 bbls/hr.
