Code 901 Risk Management in Hire Car


Risk Categories
1 Minor: Malfunction of an internal light.
2 Moderate: Small accident without casualties
3 High: Serious accident in which involved casualties such as traffic accidents

i. A taxi car daily mileage is 350 km and may reach up to 500 km daily.
ii. If the driver sensed any danger, he can reject the trip. He should inform the police by 999. However,
making a false report can lead to his permit revocation.
iii. Driver can report issues of significance to the Emirate by capturing photo or video through City Guard
App like unpaved roads.

Risks associated with Taxi Driver


1 Fire at accommodation: Follow the procedure for dealing with fire.
2 Work injuries at workshop
Stay in the waiting room and never access technicians’ workplace.
3 Verbal or physical abuse by customer
Never respond to the abuser, call police and file a complaint.
4 Theft of revenue
Make sure to deliver daily revenue to the Operator and don’t carry large amounts of money.
5 Working at Night: Be careful especially between 1:00 to 4:00 am.
Driving in non-metropolitan areas
Be careful in the afternoon and at night hours and avoid driving through unpaved roads and areas of
inadequate lighting.

Code 902 Emergency Response

Medical Emergency: Driver has to rush to the nearest medical facility or call 999
Fire
i. Evacuate the building and must not engage gathering your luggage.
ii. Close the door at the fire site to contain the smoke and fumes.
iii. Shut down the main gas sources if you can, call 999.
iv. Try to stop the fire if it is safe.
v. If you have to escape through the fire, bend down and crawl

Earthquake Get out of the building
Lightening Avoid using landline or mobile, unplug the electric devices , keep away
from seaside, and keep away from metallic objects, fences pipes and railways.

Traffic Jams Keep calm and do not violate the traffic laws

Safety at Gas Stations while Fuelling


1 Never smoke and use mobile phones
2 Turn off the engine during the fueling and or shopping in the station.
3 Make sure that the fuel hose is back to its place before you turn on the car engine and do not tamper
with the fueling devices.

Response to Potential Emergencies

Exposure to or witnessing a crime, risk of traffic accidents on road, fights or fires, the existence of cracks in
bridges, seeing a drowning person, or a corpse (dead body) or explosives, finding a lost child or a valuable
object etc.

A service by Abu Dhabi police in Arabic, English and Urdu to:
i. Prevent the occurrence of crimes, murder, burglary, kidnap and strikes

Communicating with Ambulance 998
In case of any medical emergency due to a traffic accident or otherwise, a free ambulance can be called by
dialing 998 with a specialized medical team. Air Ambulance is also sent in serious cases.

Communicating with Civil Defense 997


Civil Defense Directorate is on Fatima Bint Mubarak St near Water and Electricity Authority. It is having 52
fully-equipped centers throughout the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management (NECDM)


It was established in 2007, to protect and safeguard the UAE people. It is the major national standard setting
body for regulating and coordinating all efforts of emergency, crisis and disaster, and to develop a national
plan for responding to emergencies.

Daman: The National Health Insurance Company (govt company) is the provider of Health Insurance in the
Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Code 903 Traffic Accidents

1. Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 for the treatment of traffic accidents aims at lowering mortality due to traffic
accidents to “one accident for each one thousand citizens” where it is now “five accidents for each one
thousand citizens”
2. Traffic accidents cost the State about 2% of its annual national income.
3. More than 15 billion dirham yearly material losses in UAE in accidents.

Victim: The Victim accidents form 60 – 70 % of the total number of accidents in the transport by hire cars

How to avoid Traffic Accidents


1 Adhere to the Traffic Laws
2 Avoid driving for long continuous periods without a break.
3 Avoid taking medication that may cause drowsiness
4 Ensure recognition of all landmarks and how to reach them easily
5 Avoid using your mobile phone or talking to the passenger
6 Avoid irresponsible and reckless driving. Keep always a safe distance.
7 Avoid unnecessary changing of lanes.

How to avoid a Culprit Unknown Accident


1 Avoid parking the vehicle in construction sites
2 Avoid parking the vehicle in uninhabited areas
3 Ensure the correct usage of parking lots and avoid crowded parking.

The Gulf Cooperation Council celebrates an annual Traffic Week where the slogan is determined every
year like ‘Your Decision Determines Your Fate’ to raise public awareness.

Procedures for Accidents


1 Call 999 and inform of any medical cases that might require an ambulance.
Saaed will call the caller to identify the location of the accident, a text message will also be sent
2 comprising the patrol number of the Saaed team.
Saaed should reach within fifteen minutes. Once the accident mapping is over, a referral ticket will be
handed over to both the parties. In case of any objection to the report, the case will be referred to the
3 nearest police station.

‘Together’ initiative was launched in 2012 to encourage responsible behavior among road users and highlight
the role of family in traffic awareness. The campaign introduced several initiatives such as ‘’ We are all
responsible’’, ‘’No fines’’, ‘’I arrived safely’’, ‘’We miss you’’ etc.

Saaed for Traffic Systems


It is a national company for Mapping Minor Traffic Accidents in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and RAK.
1 In case of Grave Accident (Casualties),do not move the vehicle under all circumstances
2 In case of Minor Accident (No Casualties), move the vehicle to a safe place to avoid traffic jam.
3 Inform the police that there are casualties or not.
4 Do not perform any first aid if you are not licensed.
5 Stay calm and avoid disputing with any of the accident party, wait for the patrol to come.
6 In case the Taxi Driver is the Offender, he has to incur (pay) an amount of AED 3000 ‘’incurred amount’’
for an accident of grave damages plus a fee of AED 500 for the Saaed Mapping Report.
