Curriculum link:
Identify emotional responses and describe their feelings using pictures and/or
words (VCHPEP047)
All photos and work will be added into students books so that by the end
of the program they will have a page on each of the seven emotions.
Week 2
Happy/sad
As a whole class use the “I feel…” strip. State the chosen emotion, act it out
then stick it on the strip and read it out, then get each student in turn to do
the same.
Week 3
Happy/sad
As a whole class use the “I feel…” strip. State the chosen emotion, act it out
then stick it on the strip and read it out, then get each student in turn to do
the same.
Students colour, cut into strips and put back into order an A4 illustration of
an sad person
Week 4
Mad/surprised
As a whole class use the “I feel…” strip. State the chosen emotion, act it out
then stick it on the strip and read it out, then get each student in turn to do
the same.
Count the people- students work on the count the people worksheet from
the My Emotions pack
Week 5
Mad/surprised
As a whole class use the “I feel…” strip. State the chosen emotion, act it out
then stick it on the strip and read it out, then get each student in turn to do
the same.
Students are given a piece of paper with various types of faces (different
drawing and illustrations of the same emotion) showing different
emotions. Students must circle out all of the mad faces.
Week 6
Frustrated/worried
As a whole class use the “I feel…” strip. State the chosen emotion, act it out
then stick it on the strip and read it out, then get each student in turn to do
the same.
Use frustrated puppet from My Emotions pack. Get students to cut out the
frustrated puppet and stick onto pop stick. The teacher models a story with
a puppet and students can play with the puppets.
Week 7
Frustrated/worried
As a whole class use the “I feel…” strip. State the chosen emotion, act it out
then stick it on the strip and read it out, then get each student in turn to do
the same.
Students use play dough (or shaving cream or sand) to make a worried
face.
Week 8
Scared/confused
As a whole class use the “I feel…” strip. State the chosen emotion, act it out
then stick it on the strip and read it out, then get each student in turn to do
the same.
Finger print activity from My Emotions pack - Students use their fingers to
paint dots onto the drawing of the scared person.
Week 9
Scared/confused
As a whole class use the “I feel…” strip. State the chosen emotion, act it out
then stick it on the strip and read it out, then get each student in turn to do
the same.
Use worksheet from My Emotions pack - Colouring in and tracing the word
“confused”
Week 10
Watch a video about emotions
As a whole class students practice each of the emotions that have been
learnt in the previous lessons.
Assessment:
Give students a list of the emotions that have been looked at over the past 7
weeks and get them to match pictures of those emotions to the correct
word.
