Assessment
Pre-Assessment:
For our pre-assessment, will have the words noun and verb written on the board. When our
mentor teacher introduces new vocabulary, she has the new vocabulary words written on the
board and reads the words aloud to the students, asking if they might know what the word
means. By doing this she has an understanding of words they know, and words they have not
yet learned. As we ask the students about nouns and verbs, and ask for examples, we will have
baseline data of their knowledge about nouns and verbs to go off of for our unit.

Post Assessment
• Summative Assessment
• Students will be asked to identify nouns and verbs and give specific examples of each.
• Performance tasks: Given pictures with nouns and verbs, students will sort and glue
them under the correct heading of noun or verb. (Differentiated Instruction Identify and
Categorize p. 48).
Differentiated
Instruction:
Identify and Categorize p.48
The naturalistic learner prefers to classify and recognize concepts. By identifying and
categorizing nouns and verbs, students were able to evaluate and recall the information they
had previously learned.
