Handover analysis
The purpose is to analyse the handover situations when a mobile is moving from the coverage
attached to a given sector (station) or cell (group of stations) to another sector.
Left click on a station in Point mode, then coverage/Handover... and the following window appears :
Results displayed.
Record : Record number of the handover situation considered (automatic numbering).
Ident : Name of the link. (See below for details upon "Links").
Erlang : Traffic demand expressed in Erlang contained in the handover area. If a clutter layer is present, a
traffic density in Erlang/km² can be defined for each clutter class. If not, the default class is 0. Use
"Tools/Clutter options..." to define the traffic density.
From nb : Selected station number. The mobile is considered as moving from the coverage of the selected
station.
Start address : Address of the selected station.
To nb : Number of the destination station.
Destination address :
Distance m : Distance between the selected station and the destination station.
Handover dB : Handover margin in dB used for calculations.
Handover % : Percentage handover in the serving coverage.
Handover km² : Surface in km² of the handover area.
Link : Status "linked" or "not linked".
Cellular : The coverage defined by the whole cell is considered as the "serving" coverage. The cell is defined
by group of stations.
Note : If no group of stations is defined, the cellular option is without any effect.

The default working mode is using the default handover margin. Only one hanover margin is used, whatever
the stations considered. It is also possible to define for each couple ("From"station, "Destination" station) a
particular handover margin. To do so, links must be defined between the serving station and each
destination station to be considered.
To create a link, right click on a given record and choose "create link".
The handover margin taken into account when moving from station nb 5 to station nb 2 is the one defined in
the associated link (7dB).
Note : Links are unidirectional. A different link (and handover margin) can be defined when analysing the
handover from station nb 2 to station nb 5.
The "Handover map" function will draw the handover map considering linked stations only. If all stations are
linked in the Handover window, the map will be the same as the one already displayed.
