ABOUT THE COURSE
Indian Association of Structural Engineers (IAStructE)
IRC: 112 is a unified code covering various types of
concrete bridges, using plain concrete, reinforced concrete
and prestressed concrete, constructed by cast-in-place,
precast and composite construction methods. It replaces
two earlier codes IRC:21 for “Plain and Reinforced
Concrete Bridges’ and IRC:18 for “Post-Tensioned
Concrete Bridges”.
It is realized that the Code is to be used by the present
generation of design engineers, who will have to
familiarise themselves with the new and more advanced
methods of the analysis and design used with the limit
state approach.
The Indian Association of Structural Engineers has
therefore proposed to conduct a course on IRC:112 in the
series “Refresher Courses”. The faculty consists of several
stalwarts in the field of bridge design in the Country, who
were part of the evolution and drafting of this important
code.
The application of the code will be illustrated by worked
examples.

Indian Association of
is national apex body of structural engineers in India
established with the objective to cater to the overall

structural engineers in India.
IAStructE endeavors to ensure that it’s members develop
the necessary skill in structural engineering and work to the
highest standards by maintaining a commitment to
professional ethics and standards within structural
engineering. SPACE FOR PHOTOGRAPH
IAStructE strives for continued technical excellence; (Attached the photograph)
advancing safety and innovation across the built
environment. It also strives to make available to the
Government, Public Sector and Private Sector - a credible
source of well qualified and experienced Structural
Engineers. A nationwide database of Structural Engineers
has been compiled and is being constantly updated. Starting from 18th August 2018
IAStructE undertakes a broad range of technical activities
