New leadership named at some SISD schools

SEGUIN, Texas (June 27, 2019) – Several familiar faces have been named to lead Seguin ISD
schools for the 2019-2020 school year.

Nikki Bittings is the new principal at Barnes Middle School. Formerly the Seguin High School
associate principal, she replaces Michael Garza who has accepted an administrative position with
the district.

“Ms. Bitting's servant and transformational leadership style will be an asset to the staff and
students at Barnes. She has done a great job for the district during her years at Seguin High
School,” said Dr. Matthew Gutierrez, Seguin ISD superintendent.

Laura Flack, principal at Ball Early Childhood Center, will transition into the principal role at
Vogel this summer.

“Ms. Flack has four years experience as assistant principal at Koennecke and has served as
principal for the last two years at Ball. Her comprehensive early childhood and elementary
experience will help further our mission of academic excellence at Vogel,” Gutierrez said.

Rhonda Jubela, assistant principal at McQueeney ES, will transition into the interim principal
role at Ball ECC.

“Ms. Jubela has three years experience as assistant principal at McQueeney and has served as an
instructional coach prior. Her instructional and elementary experience will help further our
mission of preparing our youngest Matadors in Seguin ISD, he said.

“Chanda Bloch has accepted the associate principal position at Seguin High School for the
upcoming school year. Ms. Bloch has done an admirable job as the campus leader for the past six
years at Vogel. I know that she will excel in her new role at Seguin High School,” he said.
Allison Pape will be taking on a new challenge as academic dean at Briesemeister Middle School
and is currently transitioning into that role. Until recently she served as director of secondary
education and advanced academics.

“Allison will be working closely with Dr. Ben Grijalva and the AJB learning community to
ensure success and growth for all Briesemeister students,” Gutierrez said.

Grijalva, along with Cassie Koehler, were named principal at Briesemeister and Koennecke
Elementary School, respectively, in early June. Cynthia Moreno, formerly principal at
Koennecke, is now director of human resources.

“I am confident that our new employees as well as those who have transitioned into new roles
will work tirelessly to ensure that the academic needs of our Seguin ISD students are met. I look
forward to their leadership and working with them to improve our academics,” Gutierrez said.
