Resources/References
Motivation and Introduction:

1. Students will begin the lesson sat down at the front of the
class facing the teacher. The students will be introduced to the
lesson and asked what they had done in the previous
measurement & geometry lesson.

2. The teacher will recap the lesson and discuss with the other
students what they learnt.

3. The teacher will then introduce the topic of the lesson. To

motivate the students and provide the class with an
understanding of how to use grid coordinates the teacher will
show the students a grid system and how to read it.

4. The teacher will then invite the class to locate shapes and
images that have been placed on a grid system to help provide
the students with an introduction into the activities.

5. Once it is obvious the students have grasped how to use the

grid system the class will then be introduced to the seesaw
activities. The teacher will model each task and demonstrate one
last time how to read the grid system. To ensure all students
understand the task the teacher will ask individuals to repeat
each step.

Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions):

1. Students will be instructed to retrieve their iPads from the box

Seesaw activities
and return to the desk. The students will be asked to come up
one group at a time so there isn’t any pushing or shoving.

2
2. Students will work through the activities, with the teacher
walking around the class to monitor student’s participation and to
provide any further explanation.

3. If students do not understand they will be invited back to the

map to work through the activity as a group. Extension activity.

4. Once students have completed the first two activities and are
ready for the extension task the teacher will share the activity to
the class.

5. Students that are identified as being at educational risk will be

provided with a map template once they have finished the first
two tasks. They will be asked
Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students)

1. To conclude the lesson the students will be instructed to finish

the Seesaw activity they are up to. They will then upload their
work for teacher’s approval.

2. To review the lesson the class will be brought down to the

mate and the students that have completed creating their maps
will be asked to share what they have done with the class. The
class will then be asked to find the grid coordinates of the things
they have included on their maps.

Assessment: (Were the lesson objectives met? How will these be judged?)

1. The students will be assessed on their ability to complete the

Seesaw tasks. Students will be expected to complete at least
two of the task. Students should be able to demonstrate their
ability to read grid coordinates and apply it to the assigned tasks.
