The objective of this workshop is to supply answers to frequently asked questions from
users new to MineSight®. The workshop will provide multiple examples of common tasks
and introduce the MineSight® FAQ site.
Frequently Asked Questions.
1) What are some of the installation considerations when installing MineSight®?
Make sure you have administrative rights before you do the installation. Additionally,
make sure the key is Not plugged to the USB port and that any antivirus software is
temporarily disabled.
If you choose to set the environment variables under system, then all users will be
able to run MineSight®. Conversely, if you set the environment variables under user,
then only that user would be able to run MineSight®.
2) How does the license file work?
Every year Mintec issues license files for the corresponding keys. Once you get the
license file, you have to run the MineSight® License Manger to apply the license file to
the key. Once the license file is applied the key will be valid until the next year.
3) How do I apply the license file to the key?
To apply a license configuration file, start the MineSight® License Manager (MSLM)
application and follow these steps,

Then, if you want to work on version 3.5, rename your winexe to winexe3.6 and
rename winexe3.5 to winexe to obtain the following:
C:\winexe3.6 (contains version 3.6)
Mining Software C:\winexe (contains version 3.5) (this is the active version)
This way you can switch back and forth between the two versions without having to
change the environment variables.
8) How do I start a MineSight® Interactive Planner Set?
Go to your winexe and copy attrib13_16.mdb to your project directory. Rename
this file and make an ODBC connection to the database. Then in MineSight® go to a
folder in the Data Manager, right click, and select New | Interactive Planner Object.
9) How do I move objects from one coordinate point to another?
Open the Point Editor. Select the objects and go to Element | Move. Select the reference
point from which to move and in the Point Editor enter the relative or absolute
coordinates for the new reference point.
10) How do I rotate and element?
Select the element. Go to Element | Rotate. Click on Entire Selection and enter the
rotation angle. Go to the Axis tab and pick the origin to rotate the element. Notice that
the element will rotate about the axis highlighted in blue. If you want to rotate it about
a different axis, right click, then left click on the desired axis which will change to blue.
Then go back to the Element tab and click Apply to rotate the element.
11) How do I move an element from one object to another?
Select the element. Go to Selection | Move to object and select the object to which the
element will be moved.
12) What procedure do I use to combine small blocks into bigger blocks?
pblock.dat
13) What procedure do I use to combine big blocks into smaller blocks?
preblk.dat
14) When I query the drillhole view, the drillhole list does not show, but the message
window shows the drillhole ID that I queried. How do I get the drillhole list to appear?
Turn off the traces. Sometimes the trace is queried and not the drillhole. That is why
the list does appear.
15) I cannot see the labels on the screen (#1 technical support question).
Make sure the labels are turned on by pressing the L button.
