1. Bharti Airtel

a. Internet business (Nov 98 to July 03) - India started issuing licensing in


Internet business in Feb 1999.

i. Involved in technicality of business to understand the intricacy involved. This


gave me confidence that non technical person can equally be important in
technical business.
ii. Part of all solution team for commercial negotiations. This was generally big
contracts. (Supply and implementation of 2000 sites of Sahara VSAT across
India etc)
iii. Management reporting, Revenue assurance, statutory compliance
iv. Audit with PwC

b. Mobile business (Aug 03 till Jan 07) – Reporting was to SS Dhillon, Sanjeev
Saxena, Shankar Narayan (at BLR), Rohit Malhotra (at Kol)

i. Financial reporting head for 15 mobile circles (revenue Rs 3,000 cr in 2004)


ii. Part of outsourcing contracts then awarded to Nokia, Motorola, Siemens
and IBM. Total value then was USD 2.3 billion. This was a revolution in mobile
industry. The entire world then copied this.
iii. Took challenge to publish audited result (for Bharti Airtel) in 25 days from
the end of previous quarter. Group CFO awarded foreign trip with family.
iv. Handled opening of new 6 mobile circles (including Assam, J&K) in
2003-04)
v. Interaction with DoT for revenue share
vi. Gained complete knowledge of operational finance of mobile circle. For this
I went to Banglore for one year and Kolkata for another 8months. In Kolkata I
was promoted to Circle CFO. Job involved – Financial reporting, Management
accounting, Revenue assurance and compliances.
