I. OBJECTIVES:
Content Standards:
The learner demonstrates understanding of : world literature as source of wisdom in
expressing and resolving conflicts between individuals or groups and nature; strategies in evaluative reading,
writing, listening, and viewing; special speeches for occasions; and effective use of structures of modification
and pronouns.

Performance Standards:
The learner transfers learning by composing an independent critique of a chosen selection and
by delivering special speeches that observe the proper use and acknowledgment of sources and appropriate
prosodic features, stance, and behavior.

Specific Objectives:
A. Identify types of transition words.
B. Write cohesive sentences using transition words.
C. Apply knowledge in sentences and writing.

A. Review
 Again, what are the three cases of pronoun? And how can you identify each case in a
sentence?

B. Purpose of the Lesson


 We use language to communicate with each other and to represent our ideas or thoughts.
Communication can be in the form of written as well as spoken discourse. To do all this
we use one or more word and more than one sentence. To be able to speak or write
effective speeches, the logical links between various ideas and points made must be clear
to the audience.

C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson


 Kindly read the two paragraphs on the screen. Which one is better? How can you say so?
What are its differences?

D. Discussion of the Lesson


 Discussion on cohesive devices.

 Read the following excerpt from the story “A Day in a Country.” Fill out the table with
the correct cases of the pronouns taken from the excerpt.
