March 2019
Weekly Report
11.17.18

Updates:

 We consulted Engr. Tano on Thursday (11.15.18) about the fabrication of the parts using
acrylic since we were about to start the laser cutting process. He suggested to use
aluminum sheet because acrylic is brittle. We took that into consideration and looked into
parts wherein aluminum can be used. We also had a look at the Mini CNC Milling Machine,
a project from last year, which employed the same aluminum parts Engr. Tano was
suggesting.
 On Friday (11.16.18), we set out to canvass the price of aluminum plate/sheet. At a local
hardware, the price of a 3 mm-thick plate is P600/sq. ft. and the 6 mm-thick plate is
P1800/sq. ft. An aluminum sheet (4 ft x 8 ft) may cost us P14,000. Engr. Tano suggested
that we coordinate with other groups who will be also using aluminum.
 As for the ordering of materials online, we are still finalizing the list so that we can buy
them in one go.
