The following pieces are suggestions for each area of the ceremony. I have tried to include violin
versions of pieces where I can but otherwise any vocal pieces can be adapted and the vocal line can be
played by the violin. At the end you will find a ceremony structure that you can print off and fill in.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for my opinion or to ask about choices. When you have your
selection made you can forward the list on to me and I will check that everything is ok. If you have
any special requests not listed, we would be happy to include them for you as long as we can source
the sheet music.
“Nella Fantasia” - A personal favourite and a very atmospheric start to any ceremony and a stunning
piece of music – this version features Emily on violin on our website.
“Pachebel‟s Canon” - A simple but beautiful entrance piece for piano and violin and one of our most
popular entrance pieces.
“Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” – This version is by Celtic Woman but features the violin so you can
hear what it sounds like. This is a very popular choice and can be used in elsewhere either.
“The Wedding Song” – A fantastic piece which features piano and sax usually but works so well on
violin also.
“Comptine d‟un autre” from Amelie for solo piano – a recent addition to our repertoire
“Two Words, I do” for voice & piano which can also be performed on piano with violin.
“Cinema Paradiso” - A piece for voice & piano written by the same composer as Nella Fantasia. This
recording is by Josh Groban as I couldn‟t find a nice piano and violin version but sounds great.
The processional can be any piece of music that you like, please let me know if you were thinking of
something different. Also take a look at the pieces of music in other areas of this consultation as
they would work either.
Candle Ceremony (Optional)
An option for the lighting of the individual candles at the start of the ceremony is to extend the
processional into the candles. Eg When you arrive at the top of the aisle, the registrar will greet you
and then invite you to light the 2 candles while we continue playing the same piece. If the aisle is
quite short then this is a nice option. Remember there are usually 2 candle ceremonies so the same
piece can be played for both but with a slightly different version, eg a different verse.
It is also lovely to pick a different piece of music, and below are some options:
“She Moved Through The Fair” – Beautiful for any Irish wedding and sounds fantastic on solo violin.
“Air on the G String” – A classic for any string instrument! Can‟t go wrong!
“Inis Oirr” – Lovely traditional Irish air. The version I have found is for harp but sounds just as
beautiful on violin.
“One Hand, One Heart” – this version is by Caroline but would be lovely as an instrumental either.
“Now we are free” from The Gladiator. This is a very atmospheric piece, so beautiful.
Optional Pieces
As the ceremony is so short it is nice to include an extra piece inbetween readings or at some point in
the ceremony. This can be anything you like and any piece featured in this list will work here. The
pieces featured in the „Signing of the Registrar‟ section are particularly appropriate. The following
are just a few further suggestions. I can help you decide where it is most suitable for extra pieces to be
slotted in.
“The Lark in the Clear Air” – This is a version by Emily (violin) & Yvonne (piano) on our website.
“Inis Oirr” – Lovely traditional Irish air. The version I have found is for harp but sounds just as
beautiful on violin. As mentioned in the candle ceremony above.
“How Long Will I Love You” – by Ellie Goulding – A very appropriate piece.
“Fields of Gold”
“Songbird” – this is a violin (Emily) & piano (Yvonne) version from our website.
“The Prayer”
“The Rose”
“I‟ll Be There”
“Kissing You”
“The Voyage”
The choice is wide open here and any piece from an earlier part of the ceremony can also be used.
“Brandenburg Concerto No.3 in G” – Allegro Moderato – One of our most popular classical
recessional pieces.
“Arrival of the Queen of Sheba” – This is another traditionally used and popular piece today. It is
certainly upbeat
For the civil ceremony a more modern piece usually works the best if you have chosen mostly
modern pieces for the rest of the ceremony .
“Time of Your Life” – A new addition to our repertoire as suggested by a previous couple and sounds
fantastic on piano and violin!
For the recessional the choice is endless and if there is a song you are thinking of please let us know
as we often get special requests that we have not done before. Any of the pieces for the signing of the
register are also very appropriate for the recessional.
If you click here you will see the layout of the civil ceremony and where music is included. Below
you will find our consultation sheet which you can print out and fill in with your choices.
