Notes

Whom is the object form of who. It is rarely used now. However, students
should understand the difference between who and whom.

Study the example given below.

Whom did you see? I saw him/her.

Here the pronouns him/her are in the objective case. That is the reason we use
‘whom’ in the question. Who is also possible here in an informal style.

Now study another example.

Here the pronoun ‘he’ is in the subject case. Therefore, we cannot use whom in
the question.
