6.0 Equipment Operations

6.1 Test
After installation and before loading equipment for the first time, or before re-operating the equipment after
leaving unused for more than 3 months, test is needed to remove the possible air inside the X-ray tube.
The procedures are as follows:
a) Put equipment under manual fluoroscopy mode, and turn off the beam applicator. Connect a direct
current meter in series to current-loop of the inverter. Adjust fluoroscopy mA value to 1mA.
b) Adjust voltage to 50 kV, step down pedal switch to have a 1-minute exposure.
c) Gradually increase voltage grade by grade, with each grade increasing by 5 kV and have a 1-minute
exposure.
d) When increasing to max 110 KV and having a 1-minute exposure, the testing on fluoroscopy ends.
e) If the tube current appears to be unstable when having an exposure, decrease tube voltage to have
the exposure again until tube current appears to be stable; and under this condition, have the
exposure several times in succession to ensure that tube current has been stabilized, and then go on
following step c) and d).
f) The testing ends if everything is in good condition. The unit can then be taken into regular service.
g) If any unusual thing is found, please contact the after-sale service department of our company.

15
Caution: when undertaking a test, DO NOT adjust mA and kV knobs after stepping on
pedal switch.
If any unusual noise is noticed, disconnect power supply immediately and ask
specialists to check. DO NOT turn on power supply until the trouble has been
eliminated.
6.2 Fluoroscopic Operation
6.2.1 The longest cumulated fluoroscopic time on the panel is 5 minutes. At the point of 0.5 minute, the
buzzer will sound to remind the doctor that the patient has been exposed for 4.5 minutes and there are still
30 seconds left. The exposure will be terminated after 5 minutes. If 5 minutes is not sufficient, press reset
button whereupon the unit will resume 5-minute exposure indication. Press reset button within 5 minutes,
the unit will restart 5-minute exposure indication.
6.2.2 Turn on the monitor switch.
6.2.3 When turn on the power supply switch, the liquid screen background lamp will light on and the panel
indicator lamps will light on for 1 second. As soon as the liquid screen displays “ off” , press SW6 to turn
on the equipment, then press mode key to enter a certain mode.
6.2.4 Manual fluoroscopy: When the main monitor displays a fading image circle, the auxiliary monitor
displays a fading image circle and MEM1 on the top right corner. Adjust kV knob according to the body
parts to have fluoroscopy, meanwhile, adjust mA knob and step down the pedal switch to make the image
clear. Loosen the pedal switch, and the main monitor displays the final image and LIH on the top left
corner. Press the image manipulation key to overturn, lock, save and store the image. It must be pointed
out that the negative image function is effective only when the image is moved. The LIH image cannot be
processed with negative image disposal.
6.2.5 Automatic fluoroscopy: There id no need to adjust kV, mA value under this mode because 75kV,
0.8mA are the acquiescent parameters (can be amended under calibration), At this point, the unit will
automatically adjust FLUORO kV and mA based on the different body parts. By setting down the pedal
switch, clear image of the fluoroscopic parts can be seen. The procedures for image manipulation are the
same as these of manual fluoroscopy.
6.2.6 Impulse fluoroscopy: Adjust kV and mA knobs. Set down the petal switch, and the X-ray indicator
lamp (yellow) will light on. One or two seconds later ( Ten length of time is related to noise-lowering
parameters of image), the X-ray indicator lamp will go out. At this time, loose the pedal switch. The
procedures for image manipulation are the same as these of manual fluoroscopy.
6.3 Photographic Operation
Insert the film cassette into the plate holder and select proper kV and mAs. (kV, mAs can not only be

adjusted manually but also be read through APR). Set the first group of hand switch, and the
indicator lamp on the operation console will light on in about two seconds to remind that the equipment is

ready. Set the second group, and X-ray will commence. After the yellow indicator lamp on the

16
operation console lights on and the exposure finishes (the two indicators go out and the buzzer gives out
two sounds), loosen the hand brake and release the used thermal capacity.

Caution: If HU% thermal capacity is not sufficient to photograph, please wait for a
moment;
Turn on beam applicator when photographing.

19
If the ascending and descending of the pillar fail, press the emergency off knob and check the lamp
indication inside K11 and K12. If there is lamp indication, check the 24V voltage. Replace the 24V power
supply if there is no 24V voltage. Otherwise, check the circuitry and circuit breaker.

10.0 Circuitry Principles

10.1 High Voltage Circuit
The high voltage needed by X-ray tube is rectified from commutating current 220V to DC 300V which is
added to Q1~Q4 IGBT power switch tube full-bridge inverting, producing 40 kHz inverting frequency. Then
it is increased to the set voltage value by passing the transformer in the X-ray generator’ s components
and the voltage doubling circuit. Voltage regulation is conducted by the means of pulse width modulation.
Panel S18 in the inverter is IGBT driving panel, while panel S19 is high voltage, closed-loop control, and
protective circuit board.
10.2 Filament Circuit
The voltage needed by X-ray tube for lighting up filament is provided by panel S15 . After the DC 220V
filters to panel S15 through transformation, DC voltage adjustable within a certain range is produced, then
the 400Hz square wave inverted from the DC voltage through half bridge circuit is delivered to the filament
transformer to energize the filament after being isolate.
10.3 Control Circuit
The system uses four CPU. The upper unit (main PCU) is responsible for control the keyboard and display
and the data-deposit; the lower unit (MCU) conducts real-time control; Hand Control Unit (HCU) takes
charge of the hand keyboard and display equipment. CCU is image control. The four CPU transmit data
through serial UART. X-ray parameter’ s control over high voltage circuit and filament circuit is conducted
by PCU through MCU respectively, thus achieving control over kV and mAs. When 40~110kV is displayed,
the control panel will deliver 2V~5.5V DC voltage. And mAs adopts digital closed-loop control. Besides, the
control panel has additional functions of saving kV and mAs parameters, detecting status and control
output. PCU control the images through control CCU. Thus, HCU facilitates the operation of PCU function.

11.0 Disposal of the Rejected Machine

If the machine is correctly operated and properly maintained, it can be used for a period of 8 years. The
key parts, X-ray tube, can be used for about 10,000 times of exposure. If the tube is broken, it can be sent
back to our company for exchange with a new one. After the unit has served for 8 years, it may break
down and cannot be repaired any more, then, the unit has to be disposed properly. The transformer oil in
the x-ray generator has to be recycled by industrial oil recycling department; and the other components
made from steels and coppers have to be disposed by the designated departments.
