1. Introduction
In 2014, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Unit was established as a Business Centre in the
Business department and was later renamed as E-Cell in 2015. Further in 2016, Entrepreneurship
and Innovation Unit started functioning under the Deanship to promote entrepreneurship and
innovation at the college level.
EIU is a resource hub for students to facilitate their business ideas to live projects. It ensures that
students interested in entrepreneurship and innovation get the opportunity to be linked with
experienced industries and organizations that will help them establish and pursue their
entrepreneurial initiatives as a career alternative.
The Student Support System of EIU constitutes three major divisions: Education Empowerment
and Enhancement. These divisions help the students through offering entrepreneurship course,

providing opportunities for competitions, and conducting training programs respectively. Apart
from the above, the enhancement division assist student through incubating their projects,

channelizing them to funding agencies and offering specialized coaching and mentoring.

The EIU is assisted by the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Students Club led by one of the EIU

3. Strengths

 Providing assistance and support to student companies.

 Increased participation in external competitions.

 Good rapport with external stake holders.

 Wide range of student participation in Entrepreneurial and Innovative activities from all
specializations.

 Feedback mechanism developed.

 Trainings are provided for both staff and students regularly.

 Continuous improvement in the teaching material of the Entrepreneurship course.

 Increased awareness of EIU in all the academic units.

 Exclusive assistance to students for INJAZ through Exhibitions.

 Incubation support up to year.

 Enhanced student support through interactive lectures, case studies and business plans.

4. Challenges

 Constraints of physical resources to conduct activities for the students.

 Difficulty in providing complementary support to Entrepreneurship course owing to the


large number of sections

 Entrepreneurship course being perceived poorly by students

 Relevant course materials not being available

 Difficulty in collecting the feedback when size of the audience is large.

 Insufficient incubator resource and tool requirements:

i. Books related to entrepreneurships.

ii. Computers for each incubator.

iii. Printing of incubated companies’ name

5. Suggestions for Improvement

 Adding more e-learning tools and modules for the Entrepreneurship course.

 Entrepreneurship course being offered towards the end of the diploma second year for
better student perception and understanding.

 Formulation of guidelines for the staff teaching the course.

 Rotational supervision of competitions by staff.

 Collaboration to be initiated with other educational institutions
