UNIVERSITY OF CALCUTTA
1. Entrance Test for admission to M.A., M.Sc., M.Com, M.Sc. (Ag) Courses will be held through
Online Mode i.e. Computer Based Test (CBT).
2. Online Mode of Entrance Test does not mean Test from residence or cyber cafe.
3. There will be a specific Test Centre. That centre is at Salt Lake City, Kolkata and candidate
have to reach to the specific Test Centre in allotted date and time mentioned in Routine
available in website.
4. There will be 50 Nos. of MCQ type questions with four nos. of answer options, of which one
will be write answer. Duration of Entrance Test: 1 hour.
5. Candidate will get ‘+2’ marks for each write answer; ‘-0.5’ mark for each wrong answer and
‘0’ mark for no try.
7. Address of Test Centre, Date and Time of Entrance Test will be available in website
notification as well as Hall Ticket (i.e. Admit Card).
8. Candidates have to download Hall Tickets for each Entrance Test; he/she applied for from
the Web portal, to be notified in due course.
9. All the Non C.U. Candidates, Previous year C.U. Candidates mandatorily have to appear
in Entrance Test.
10. C.U. current year candidates including C.U. Autonomous College passed students in have to
appear in Entrance Test mandatorily in few Courses mentioned in the Notice.
For example: in M.Sc. Course: Group–03 Computer Science, Group-08 BMB, Group-13
Statistics and Group-21 Human Rights. In M.A. Course: Group-07 CILL, Group-11 Buddhist
Studies, Group-21 Museology etc.
11. All other C.U. current year candidates including C.U. Autonomous College passed students
may appear or may not appear in Entrance Test. If they appear in the Entrance Test they
may be gainer or may not be gainer. But they never will be looser. Because, if they
appear in Entrance Test, their name will be in two merit lists (PART – A 60% seats and
PART – B 40% Seat). Candidate will be selected from the merit list of PART-A or PART-B
from where he/she will be benefited more. Even if the candidate got ‘–ve’ marking in the
Entrance Test, he/she will be selected from the merit list of PART-A subject to
availability of seats. If they do not appear in Entrance Test their name will be in PART-A
merit list and he/she will be selected through merit list of PART-A only.
13. 1st Provisional Selection List for both PART-A (60% of Seat) and PART-B (40% of Seat) to be
published simultaneously after publication of Entrance Test.
14. Mock Test (Sample Test) facility for all the candidates to be available from 10th July, 2019.
Link for Mock Test will be available in University Admission Portal.
16. In this system, C.U. Candidate means candidates graduated from Calcutta University. Non-C.U.
Candidate means Candidate graduated from other University / Institute.
17. General Instruction of Entrance Test will be in English and Bengali but all questions except
language subjects will be in English Medium.
