In the past decade, the Positive Psychology
movement has been rapidly gaining momentum
across the world, inspiring mental health
professionals and practitioners.
As a result of challenges faced by all of us in the
spheres of life, be it at environmental, social,
economic, political and many more; our
subcontinent witnesses increased discord, a
sense of incompleteness, dissatisfaction,
aggression and violence, both at micro-
individualized and macro-systemic levels. It is the
time for Psychology fraternity to turn to Positive
Psychology for its time tested incisive insights.
Positive Psychology perspective gives a different
interpretive lens and seeks novel strategies to
cope with these challenges leading to a healthy
society. The perspective has appealed, influenced
and radically changed the way of examining
human functioning.
The proposed conference aims to look into
Positive Psychology movement in the Indian
context. It is envisaged as a coming together of
leading practitioners from diverse fields for
creating a holistic discourse on possible
interventions of Positive Psychology to enhance
subjective well-being to build a healthy society.
