Introduction

Project Context
The fast growth of technology has contributed a lot to the continuous advancement of all classes
of industry. Management information systems often referred to as MIS is the people-oriented use of
computers in business. MIS is both a field of investigation and a career path. It combines the institutions
of calculating, analysis, and custom in to one field of investigation (Lahue,2014).

The system will have a significant development on both the residents of barangay and barangay
workers who handles the system as well as the barangay itself. It offers an assurance that the file will be
secured and safe for it will also require permission before someone can access the system. Moreover,
one that can automate the recordkeeping process in order to create efficient and accurate reports and
proper automated file management. It converts data into a useful form that will allow the operation to
work smoothly (Lado et al.,2017).

The system uses by the officer from Barangay Bagumbayan in Roxas, Oriental Mindoro is manual-
based procedure for some services to its member. The personnel encountered difficulties and long
procedure in retrieving, recording, computing and processing residents file.

Bagumbayan is situated at approximately 12.5902, 121.5209, in the island of Mindoro. Elevation

at these coordinates is estimated at 10.9 meters or 35.8 feet above mean sea level.
 Today’s competitive environment, computerization of mechanization of the business operation is
of major importance because many people believe that with the help of this technology most
organizations can make their operative, advisable, and strategic processes more productive, effective and
efficient. Management information system (MIS) is the means of support of any business organization
today and the functionality of information systems is a necessity. The system secures that proper data is
collected from the varied sources, processed and produce valuable facts. The system is expected to
equip the information needs of individual personnel, the management and the organization as a whole
(Sosa,2017).

Purpose and Description

This system ease Barangay management by enabling the Barangay officer to save their resident
profiles as intact and up-to-date as viable and as easily accessible for verification, monitoring and
references purposes based on the obtainable resident’s census data kept by the Barangay officer. The
main function of this study is to pass a full calculable and secured keeping o all data. Barangay
Management Information System hope to improve the way of managing, issuing certificate and keeping
all the residents confidential records. Data provided by this system in the form of complete reports are
invaluable for planning, program implementation and related purposes.

Objectives of the study

Generally, the central objective of the study is to develop a Barangay Management Information
System. To automate in classify to generate efficient and accurate reports and correct automated file
management.

Specifically, the proposed system aims to:

 To produce an automated system easily find the reports so that it is exact, intact, affordable and
available
 To protect and safe resident’s private record
 To give full information about the residents
 To smoothly updates resident’s profile
 Reserve the whole resident’s record
 Easy to use and manage
 Rapid and smooth to detect resident’s record
 Deliver backup database of all record

Scope and Limitation

Through the data that I’ve gathered in the interview, I came up with aa solution that will address
the main problem of Barangay Bagumbayan, Roxas, Oriental Mindoro. The proposed system has a Login
Window which the user can choose what is the user’s barangay position with password to extent the
access on the barangay management information system for the safety purposes. And the system also
has an Admin Window which have the access to all users in the system. After the Log in process the user
will advance to the main Window of the system which agree of the following modules: Blotter Record
Module sort of two submodules Barangay Blotter and Women’s Desk. Barangay Blotter submodule can
search, add, update, and delete record for a usual blotter and Women’s Desk submodule is for the
circumstances affect women and children cases. Barangay Report Module contains certificate namely,
Certificate of Residency, Certificate of Indigency etc.

All systems have its limits, in this case the proposed system has the following limitation

 No Distribution of Official Receipt

Significance of the Study

The suggested system will present technology to a small chapter community such as the
barangay that is until today report and cover by means of manual techniques or in a logbook form. And
the listed following individuals below will help from the suggested computer system

 Barangay Workers – Barangay Workers will honorably help from the suggested computer system.
The barangay will have a secure and more manageable way to ease all information going in and
out of the system.
 Members – The members of the barangay Bagumbayan will benefit from this system, as they will
have more sage and quicker operational or transaction system.
 Promoter – I as the examiner I will benefit from this study not only enhancing my wisdom in
designing computer system but also understanding my community and its problem to answer
and give a better idea for their system.
 Future Examiners – Future Examiners who have equal case studies may benefit from this
research as they can get background information from the outcome, which may even serve as a
template to qualify their research.

Definition of Terms

MIS – Management Information System refers to a computer-based system that delivers

administrative with the tool to classify, rate and productively handle departments within an organization.

Barangay – is the smallest executive division in the Philippines and is the native Filipino term for
a village, district or ward.

Barangay Worker – a person of legal age, who is at least a high school graduate in a Philippines-
recognized school and a capable voter and an actual tenant of the barangay.

Technology – refers to techniques, systems, and devices which are the result of scientific
knowledge being used for useful purposes.

Certificate – is an authorized form stating that particular facts are true.

Resident – a person who is a constituent of a particular country and who has rights because of
being born there or because of being given rights, or a person who lives in a particular town or city.
 Login Window – refers to the procedure of accessing a secure computer system or website. Login
data that authenticates you as a user. This data usually contains a username and password, though some
Login take extra data, such as a PIN number or a correct answer to a security question.

User – someone who uses an output, machine, or service

Admin Window – is a user record that permits you to make changes that will affect other users.

Barangay Blotter – if you are a casualty of crime or felony in the Philippines, it is wise to narrate
the crime or felony with the barangay and police authorities on what happened to you. Thereafter, you
must secure a barangay blotter and police blotter or narrate so that you may use them as evidences.

Women’s Desk – is a gender mainstreaming experience in a public policy. The Women’s Desk
aims to be a space for consultation and coordination between the various local services in the Orient
Region in order to enhance the services provided for the women beneficiaries.

Computer System – is a collection of things (hardware, software, and liveware) that are designed
to receive, process, manage and present data in a meaningful format.
