Conservation possibilities in your village town

One of the best ways to show conservation in your village town is possible through the effort to reduce
the use of water. Rain water harvesting is an intelligent way to do so. Mainly hand pumps and ground
water pipes are used to draww water from the underground leading in the declaim of underground
water amount. This conservation method will prevent that! In rural areas farmers are prone to take up
shift and burn cultivation which on a large scale damage the soil. So new eco-friendly farming methods
should be introduced. Another main possibility is linked to the conservation of natural resources like
fossil fuels, sunlight, water, air, land, electricity etc...And prevent mining and quarrying if threes any!

India is the second most populated country in the world. And almost 75% of India's area is rural or
village area.

So if we want to conserve the natural resources of our country we must prefer these conservation
procedures in the rural areas because the rural areas occur the most of the land in our country and also
the most of the natural resources too.

With the help of the Panchayat and other governing bodies we can bring this conservation initiative
possible into real life.

And this conservation is very important for our future.

Biodiversity is the foundation of life on earth and one of the pillars of sustainable development. Without
the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity we shall not be able to achieve the desired
development goals.

Measure to conserve Biodiversity:

1. Genetic/species level measures

A. species richness

B. measures of species dissimilarity

C. measures of relative abundance

2. Ecosystem/landscape level measures

A. measures of ecosystem functions

B. measures of ecosystem services

C. measures of system properties.

We can participate in biodiversity conservation by increasing our knowledge of environmental issues,

increasing our awareness of the impacts of biodiversity loss, and increasing support for government
policies and actions that conserve our valuable ecosystems. We can become educators and role models
as stewards of the environment by aiding in the recovery of species at risk and preventing other species
from becoming at risk. Habitat Stewardship consists of activities that range from enhancing the quality
of soil, water, air and other natural resources to monitoring and conserving wildlife species and their
habitat by donating the property to a land trust.
Measures to apply in village/town
Environmental sustainability discussions are becoming much more prevalent in local communities.
Citizen committees and paid coordinators are now commonplace in cities and towns. Many of you are
keenly interested in climate change, an issue that pretty recently would have been considered
something that national governments must solve.

Garbage: Most villages doesn't have proper garbage disposal system. It usually involves dumping
everything in the far end of the village. And ironing it once in a while. If I were you I would try to
segregate the waste into compost and non compost. Use the organic waste for compost pit and plastics
and stuff to collect and sell it in the nearby town once in two weeks or so.

Rainwater harvesting: Most of the government school or any facility would have that at least my village
has it but this could be implemented in all the household and that would really help in improving the
ground water table.

Plastic: This is modern to village not traditional to villages. Try to eradicate the use of plastics and bring
back the culture of using traditional cloth bags.

Sand/Tree exploitation: This is one of the major factors that destroy the ecology of the village. Should
have strict rules for cutting trees in air around the village and also sand exploitation from rivers.

Buying local: Village might have one or two shops that sell products and villagers should try to utilize
them as much as possible. Also, the farmers sell the produce that they grow in their field and you should
appreciate their effort and buy from them.

Sanitation: Villagers have been using open defecation for long time but with increase in population now
the process is not feasible as it can cause lot of disease and health problems. Government has provided
subsidy that can be used for construction of restrooms.

Town is big and lot of things could be implemented their like solar, ground water recharge system, run
off collection etc
