Maritime Resource Management Workshop –

The MRM course is based on extensive research, experience and
studying the causes of hundreds of accidents. This is a practical, not
an academic course.
If you deal with highly operational situations with risk to life and
limb and goods in the merchant shipping services ,then..

This course is about YOU.

The workshop deals with management of the Human Element in

highly operational situations such as exist onboard Ship’s
bridges, Cargo and Engine control rooms, and Vessel Traffic
management Control rooms , and the way that individuals and
teams Communicate, interact and make decisions in situations with
direct physical consequences.
The principles in this programme apply to everyone who affects or
is affected by shipboard operations, but it is especially designed for
Deck Officers, Engineers , Superintendents ,
Pilots, VTIS operators, and Tug masters.
The aim of the course is a continuing awareness in the participants
of human factors including their own , leading through self analysis
to their evolving in safety and performance as individuals and as
part of their operating team.

-----
The SEEK-MRM course and workshop is founded on hard data and investigations of the Swedish
Club Academy , on errors committed on board ships, which resulted in insurance claims paid by the
Swedish Club.

It responds to their key finding – that over 80 percent of accidents on board are caused due to
human error – not incompetence or technical issues , while over 80 percent of available Seafarer
training addresses only technical issues.

The SEEK -MRM course and workshop focuses squarely on the Human being, and deliberately away
from issues of the technical equipment utilized.

The purpose of the workshop is -- to encourage self analysis (research says that it is the best form of
learning). It will not utilize “top- down instructions” to effect Knowledge Transfer.
