DETAILED LESSON PLAN in SCIENCE 7

June 4, 2019

I. Objectives: At the end of the session, the students should be able:

1. To describe the components of a scientific investigation
II. Subject Matter:
A. Topic: WAYS OF ACQUIRING KNOWLEDGE AND SOLVING PROBLEMS
B. Reference: Learner’s Material pp.1-4
C. Instructional Materials: chalk, blackboard, pictures
III. Procedures
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Preliminary Activities

Good morning class! Good morning Mrs. Sales.

Arrange your chairs and pick up all scattered (Students arranged their chairs and picked up
things near you. scattered things.)

Any volunteer to lead us a short prayer. (One has raised her hand.)

B. Review
Let’s have a recap of our lesson yesterday.
Anyone in the group who truly listened? (Students raised their hands.)

Yes, Jose? Ma’am we’ve learnt about scientific

investigations.
Very Good! What’s really important in an
investigation? Ma’am, it’s knowing the problem, the cause
of the problem, and finally its solution.
Exactly!

C. Presentation
Before we’re going to continue with our
lesson today, let’s first check you assignment (Students exchanged their notebooks.)
yesterday. Bring them out and exchange
notebook with the person behind you.
Okay, so one will go to the board and write
the 5 scientific methods. Nichol:
1. Make an observation.
2. Ask a question.
3. Form a hypothesis, or testable explanation.
4. Make a prediction based on the hypothesis.
5. Test the prediction.
All are correct.
D. Discussion
Now that you’re already aware of the
scientific methods, it’s time for you to grasp
important facts in science.
In Grade 6, you have learned about different
mixtures and their characteristics. You have
come up with a homogenous and
heterogeneous mixtures. What’s the difference Ma’am from the prefixes homo and hetero,
between the two? they mean single and different respectively.

Very Good! And homogeneous mixtures are

called solutions. For example, a sugar mixed
in a water. Sugar is called the solute solid and
vinegar is the solvent liquid.
And what is a mixture? Ma’am it is a combination of two or more
matters.
You’re right. And what are these phases of
matter? Ma’am solid, liquid, and gas.

Excellent! And this can be all mixed together,

In this module, you will identify common
properties of solutions using different
methods.

E. Evaluation
On your book, open pp.___ and answer the (The students answered the pre-test
pre-test section. immediately.)

Let’s check it afterwards.

F. Generalization
Are there clarifications with our lesson today? None Ma’am.
Well and good if there’s none.

IV. Assignment
List down at least 10 solutions you find in
your home.
