I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:


A. Identify the elements of the short story from the selection.
B. Express the learner’s emotions thru reflection paper.
C. Dramatize the short story entitled “Footnote to Youth”.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. Topic: Footnote to Youth by Jose Garcia Villa


B. Concept: Life after marriage is hard; therefore one should really think hundred
times before entering marriage life.
C. Reference: English for Academic and Professional Purposes
D. Materials: Powerpoint Presentation, Video Presentation, Graphic Organizer.

 Review of the past lesson

A. MOTIVATION
 Few years from now, you will be graduating from this institution and
several years from now, you will build your own family. What would
be the factors that you want to consider for marriage?

B. PRESENTATION
 The teacher will show the learners difficult words from the short story
and will unlock it by using those into sentences.
 The students will be given enough time to read and understand the
short story and the teacher will explain the story after.
 Answering guide questions:

1. What is the story all about?


2. Who are the characters in the story?
3. Describe the setting of the story.
4. What point of view was used in the story?
5. What made Dodong feel that he was no longer a boy but already a
man?
6. How did Teang find married life?
7. Explain the line “Youth must triumph…now. Love must
triumph…now. Afterwards…it will be life!”

C. GENERALIZATION
 What is the significance of the short story to you?

D. APPLICATION
 The class will be divided in to four groups. Each group will dramatize
the short story. Each group will be given 10 minutes to present.

IV. EVALUATION
 Make a reflection paper based on the short story discussed. Maximum
of 200 words.

 DIRECTIONS: Analyze the short story using the grammar evaluation
below.
