I Am My Position

There is a saying that "nobody is perfect". This means that you can not have everything. You have
your own strengths but also have weaknesses or flaws. And these flaws actually serves as a person's
excuses to keep one's self into his or her comfort zone. We actually don't realize yet that it slowly builds a
learning disability within ourselves. It hinders us as an individual to grow and to be belong in a learning
organization.

In my personal life there are things that I can say I am not good at. Inside our home, I am
assigned in household chores as a dishwasher. This happened because I don't know how to cook. My
parents never tried to teach me how to cook though I know how to cook rice and any other fried dishes
because those are the basics. There are times today that they want me to cook and I would decline and say
I would rather want to eat canned goods as my lunch or dinner than to cook anything. I will also say to
them that it is not my task because my only task is to wash the dishes. This situation is somehow related
to as a learning disability. I am only focusing on what I can do for now and do not try to learn something
that I can learn and do tomorrow. I did not think that learning how to cook is very important thing in a life
of a person. There will be a time that I need to be independent, I need to stand on my own feet. For
example, I will go to Manila after I graduate for the review of the board exam. Of course I am on my
own, and that means I will live on my own and try to survive on my own. No one will be there to cook me
my food.

I just realized now what I am losing. The value that it will contribute me in the future is greater
than the task I am only focusing today.

The Enemy is Out There

What we are doing is actually a chain of reactions. But we do not understand or yes, we do
understand yet wo do not want to accept something. Especially if we consider something as negative
and not beneficial to us. This is actually very common in most of us. We accept things if it is positive and
we do not just reject negatives, we are pointing something or someone to be the cause.

Most of the time, I experienced to be late. I wake up every morning at 5 AM then do my usual
things and leave our house at 6:30 AM. My travel time is approximately one hour. But due to the
unexpected circumstances, my one hour travel time adds more thirty minutes or in maximum it reaches
two hours. These circumstances what I am talking about are heavy traffic, an accident, marching the
body of a dead person or slow driving. These causes me sometimes to be late. I am blaming them for
what is happening to me. Though I know to myself that I can still do something to avoid being late. But
because we normally do not want negative for ourselves we tend to put it in the shoes of other people.

This made a learning disability because we are thinking that the enemy is out there or anywhere.
We are blinded by our own self-interest. We do not see that the real enemy is just within us, and that is
our own selves.
