Livelihood framework for Coconut stems stall street vendor

 Context: The context is urban as the vendor Nagraj sells his products in urban area of Madurai and also he stays with his wife and two
daughters in T.V.S Nagar in Madurai in a rented room.
 Assets:Nagraj has an asset of 10acre coconut field along with 5000 tree and a home at Theni district.
 Policies/Institution and process:Here a direct marketing channel prevails. As Nagraj owns the coconut land and he only sells the
product in retail price on the West Masi street. He does not get any organisational or institutional support but still pays a commission to
the government officials to continue his livelihood activity.
 Livelihood strategy:Nagraj once in a month returns his home and brings the stems to be sold for a month. Daily in the evening 5pm to
10pm he will sell his product on the West Masi street, by providing a daily commission of Rs.50 to the police. Other products from the
coconut field are sold from the field itself and the field is the only source of income for his family.
 Outcomes: He could provide education to both of her daughter in a convent school in Madurai, he stays with his family in the city with a
room rent of Rs.4000, he earns Rs.2000 daily from the coconut stem selling activity within 5 hours with a net profit of Rs.500 daily.
 Livelihoods: He could thus use his land resource aptly and could also earn from other coconut products. His selling product has enough
demand on the streets of the city.
