Results : The incidence of blindness in the Al-Ihsan Hospital during the period
January 1, 2007 through March 31, 2008 is based on the WHO criteria for 3:09% (73
people), while Indonesia is the criteria for 2.32% (55 people). Characteristics based
on age groups the highest rates of blindness occurs in 61-70 year age group of 23
people (31.5%) for WHO criteria and as many as 18 people (32.7%). Highest
blindness occurs woman, the WHO criteria for 42 people (57.52%) and the criteria of
Indonesia 32 people (58.18%). The prevalence of the disease causes blindness is
cataract, which occurred in 26 cases (35.62%)
Conclusion : The number blindness of Al Ihsan Hospital during the period January 1,
2007 through March 31, 2008, with 73 for the WHO criteria and criteria of Indonesia
as much as 55 people, with a prevalence linked to the 61-70 year age group and
women. Causes of blindness are the most common cataract disease, in 26 cases.
