Lattice Hat

This is not a beginner's pattern.
This pattern uses front post double crochet (fpdc) as well as back post double crochet (bpdc) There are
several good tutorials online of how to complete these stiches, as well as Youtube videos that will walk
you through them. It is expected that you know these stitches and are comfortable with them before
beginning the pattern. 

Items Needed:
Less than 4oz. of WW yarn
H hook for body
G hook for ribbing

Gauge:3 dc with H hook=1", 2 rows of dc=1" Height isn't as important as width since rounds can be
added on.

Stitches used: Single Crochet (sc), Double Crochet (dc), Front Post Double Crochet (fpdc), Back
Post Double Crochet (bpdc), Lattice Treble Cluster (LTC) explained below.
Lattice Treble Cluster (LTC):
Yo 2 times (3 loops on hook):

Insert hook under first LTC from round before last:

Yo:
Pull through (4 Loops on hook):

Yo, pull through first 2 loops on hook, yo, pull through next 2 loops on hook (2 loops on hook):
Yo 2 times (4 loops on hook):

Insert hook under next LTC from round before last:
Yo:

Pull through (5 loops on hook):
Yo, pull through first 2 loops on hook, yo, pull through next 2 loops on hook (3 loops on hook):

Yo, pull through all three loops, LTC is complete:
Ch 2 at the beginning of each dc row, counts as first dc. For rows beginning with fpdc: ch 2, fpdc
down into stitch you slipped to (will force the ch 2 behind the fpdc) and ignore ch 2. Slip to first
stitch at the end of every row.

For color changes: color change at the beginning of a dc row, this will insure that the LTC that
goes down over the row will match. 

1. 9 dc in Adjustable Ring
2. 2 fpdc in every dc (18 fpdc)
3. *Fpdc in fpdc, dc in the space between last fpdc and the next, fpdc in fpdc, fpdc in fpdc, dc in the
space between last fpdc and the next, fpdc in fpdc* repeat from * to * around (18 fpdc, 9 dc)
4. *Fpdc in fpdc, dc in dc, fpdc in fpdc, dc in the space between last fpdc and the next* repeat from *to*
around(18 fpdc, 18 dc)
5. *Fpdc in fpdc, dc inc in dc, fpdc in fpdc, dc in dc* repeat from *to* around(18 fpdc, 27 dc)
6. *Fpdc in fpdc, dc in dc, dc in dc, fpdc in fpdc, dc inc in dc* repeat from *to* around(18 fpdc, 36 dc)
7. *Fpdc in fpdc, dc in dc, dc inc in dc* repeat from *to* around(18 fpdc, 54 dc)
8. Dc around (72 dc)
9. ch 1, sc in same st, sc, LTC (crochet under fpdc instead of LTC as shown in instructions), *sk 1 dc, sc
next 3 dc, LTC* repeat from * to * 17 times, sk 1 dc, sc next dc, sl in first sc (18 LTC, 54 sc)
10. Dc around (72 dc)
11. ch 1, LTC, *sc in next 3 dc, LTC, sk 1 dc* repeat from * to * 17 times, sc next 3 dc, sl to first LTC
(18 LTC, 54 sc)
12­21. Repeat rows 8­11, ending with row 9. (if you desire a longer hat you can continue to repeat until
an inch shorter than desidered length, ending on an odd numbered row)
Switch to G hook

22. *fpdc down into last LTC, bpdc, fpdc, bpdc* repeat from * to * around (36 fpdc, 36 bpdc)
23­24. fpdc in fpdc, bpdc in bpdc around (36 fpdc, 36 bpdc)
Tie off and weave in ends
