Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to a night of
fun and excitement, a night of songs and dances; welcome to the
Dapa National High School Variety Show. To begin with, the Invocation will now be given by ________________. This will be followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem.
To welcome us all to this special night, we may call on the
Vice president of the Student Supreme Government of Dapa National High School, friends, Ms. Ellen C. Gorillo.
Thank you very much Ellen. To start our presentation, a
vocal solo will be rendered to us by a third year Intimacy student, friends, please join me in welcoming, Mr. Norman Nojara.
Dance has been from the beginning of time, a reflection of
the pulse and rhythms of man as a social being. As many meanings and purposes to life as man has found, there are dances to express them. Dance for man was a form of worship, a communication with the unseen powers by which he lived. His dancing was full of images of his immediate world: the wind and rain, the passing of seasons, movements of birds and animals, courtship, renewal of life, celebrating life, etc. Let’s turn back the time and take a glimpse at the original dances in the Philippines to see how much like the old dances, are the indigenous dances that are danced today. Ladies and gentlemen, lets all welcome with a round applause, the Silangan Dance Troupe of Dapa National High School. ____________________________ We Filipinos are music lovers. We always thought our day is a little bit happier and more enjoyable if we could hum a favorite song or listen to the latest music played on radio, cassette, or TV. For some of us who are born romantic, listening to a favorite love song is enough to complete our day. And so tonight friends, the songbirds of our school will render to us songs which we hope would touch our hearts and would help make this night special and unforgettable. Friends, let’s all welcome - - - -
The Philippines is particularly rich in dance heritage, both
indigenous and adapted, from the cultures of the East Asian neighbors. In the early part of the 20 th century, the Philippines was in a period of transition, and was exposed to a wide range of new Western influences which threatened to modify many of the native institutions and folk beliefs, as part of the past was already considered old fashioned, and were subjected to the modifications of time and the introduction of foreign dances. The form and content of Philippine dance have changed dramatically. This change is an indication of how our self image is changing in its relationship to our world and to the forces by which we live. Friends, lets join our hands together to welcome the selected students of Dapa National High School as they will show us samples of Cha3, Tango, Boggie, Swing, Samba and some modern dances.
That was the last part of our variety Show. Thank you very much for watching, Goodnight everybody…
