DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL BANGALORE – EAST

Aggression in School Children- Cause, Prevention and Management

Regional Summit conducted by the Institute of Counsellor Training and

Research Consultancy (ICTRC)

With an alarming rise in the cases of juvenile recklessness and intense altercations
in the society, primarily among the children below the age of 15, an inevitable
necessity was foreseen to organize an event wherein the concerns and suggestions
are discussed at length. ICTRC successfully organized such an event, which Delhi
Public School Bangalore East was proudly associated with.
The event was held on Friday 28th June, 2019, at The Lalit Ashok Hotel, in
Bangalore and was attended by multiple stakeholders, eminent dignitaries,
leading researchers and speakers. Ms Sindhu David and Ms Sukriti Prabhu
represented Delhi Public School Bangalore East. The Summit was scheduled to
discuss the challenges experienced by parents and educators alike while dealing
with such children with special needs.
Mrs. Shyama Nair discussed about the
theories of human aggression, the warning
signs and its causes. She also highlighted
about the new role of schools in preventing
and controlling aggression such as teaching
emotional intelligence through psycho-
educational programs and training them to
communicate assertively.
The main speaker Dr. V.S Ravindran
provided inputs and insight about the management of aggression. He introduced
the group to the usage of the term “otherwise typically developing children”
instead of normal children. He also provided some tips in handling children of
ADHD population such as engaging them in some vigorous physical activity
before they are bought to class, providing minimum instructions and ensuring the
surrounding to be kept neat and tidy. Other speakers were representatives of the
International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM), International School of
Management Excellence (ISME) and
EPSON who spoke about the skills
children require for the new era of learning
and the visual aids to be used in teaching
children.
Prof. Nitin Garg from ISME mentioned
about the important skills including
communication, comprehension and life
skills, that children need to acquire in the
new era of learning.

Overall the summit was very informative and an enriching experience for all the
participants.
