INTRODUCTION

PURPOSE
This manual provides the user with a comprehensive documentation on the MediCard
ACcess Express (MACE) modules.

The manual’s introductory section highlights the system’s objectives, features and
functionalities which can be derived from using the application. It also provides the
user with the procedural flows followed in MediCard that serves as the context for
using the system.

BACKGROUND
In line with MediCard’s continuing effort to improve services to its members,
MediCard ACcess Express (MACE) is a technology update on the existing MediCard
Online Settlement System (“MOSS”). The MACE is a powerful application that allows
the MediCard Members to transact and enjoy their membership in a non-terminal
based mobile platform, such as Android smartphones or tablets.

The current version of this user manual covers the following functionalities:

 Logging in application
 Searching for Member and Viewing of Member Information
 Verifying Membership
 Taking photo of the member
 Viewing of Dependents
 Requesting of Outpatient Approvals

GETTING STARTED

BASIC USER INTERFACE ELEMENTS


• The Navigation Bar appears at the upper edge of an application screen. It usually
displays the title of the current screen and the “Back” button to redirect to the
previous screen.

 A Label displays static text and is usually used for field description and display of
relevant information in the screen.

BASIC SCREENS

1. HOME SCREEN
The Home Screen is the first page that the Coordinator sees upon login. The
Coordinator can search a member using the QR code or manual input of MediCard
ID number.

HOW TO LOGIN TO THE COORDINATOR APPLICATION
The Login page is the first page that the Coordinator sees upon loading the
application.

Step 1: In tablet’s menu, tap on the icon to launch the application

Step 2: In Login page, enter the Username and its corresponding Password
provided by MediCard

Step 3: Tap on the button. The application loads the updated list
of doctors, diagnosis and diagnostic tests then displays the Home Screen.

Note: If the credentials do not match, an error message is displayed (See Figure 13.0).

HOW TO MANUALLY SEARCH FOR A MEMBER


The manual searching for a member is available for MediCard members who do
not have an access to the Member application or do not have MediCard Member ID
card.

Step 1: In the Home Screen, enter the MediCard ID number and the corresponding
Date of Birth.

Step 2: Tap on the button. The application displays Member
Information page.

Note: If the MediCard ID number and the Date of Birth do not match, an error
message is displayed (See Figure 16.0). If the Coordinator inputs an incorrect date of
birth 7 times, the member’s account becomes locked (See Figure 17.0). Please call
841-8080 for details.

HOW TO SEARCH FOR A MEMBER THROUGH SCANNING OF QR CODE
The searching for members through scanning of QR code is available only for
MediCard members who have access to the Member application or have their
MediCard Member ID card with QR Code. If the member’s status is not active, the app
displays the corresponding messages:

Status Message

If member’s membership is cancelled Patient is no longer a MediCard member

If member is resigned Patient is no longer a MediCard member

If member has no Out-Patient access Member has no Out-Patient access to this


hospital/clinic. Please call 841-8080

If member has no In-Patient access Member has no In-Patient access to this

If member has no access to the Member has no access to this

Step 1: In the Home Screen, tap on the Scan QR code icon. The application displays
“Scan QR code in Member ID” on the screen.

Step 2: Place the camera on the Member QR Code. If the member is verified, the
application displays the Member Information Page. Otherwise, the
Verification Screen is displayed.

HOW TO VERIFY A MEMBER
The member, through the Coordinator, must undergo a verification process each
time he changes his display picture to verify the identity of the member. The
Coordinator has two options: to Skip the verification process (This step can only be
done once in every verification process) or to Verify the identity of the member.

If the Coordinator chooses to Skip the verification process:


Step 1: In Verification page, tap on the button. The application displays a
confirmation message.

Step 2: Mark the “I have validated this request with the member” checkbox to
enable the Proceed button.

Step 3: Tap on the button to view the Waiver screen.

Step 4: Mark the “Patient has agreed to these conditions” checkbox to enable the
OK button.

HOW TO TAKE A PHOTO OF THE MEMBER
The Coordinator can take a photo of the member if: 1) there is no photo of the
member, 2) the member’s display photo needs to be updated, or 3) the Coordinator
cannot identify the member in his display picture.

Step 1: In Member Information page, tap on the pencil icon at the lower right of
the picture.

Upon taking the member’s photo, the application displays a confirmation


message (See Figure 26.0).

Step 2: Tap on the button to change the member’s photo. The application
displays a confirmation message (See Figure 27.0).

HOW TO VIEW THE DEPENDENTS OF THE MEMBER
If the member has dependents under his account, the list of dependents is
displayed upon clicking the Dependents button in the member information page.

Step 1: To view the list of dependents in Member Information page, tap on the
button.

HOW TO REQUEST FOR A CONSULTATION
The member, through the Coordinator, can request various Out-Patient requests
such as Consultation.

Step 1: From the Member’s Information page, tap on the button.


The application displays Out-Patient menu.

Step 3: Tap on the doctor field to select a doctor. The application displays the list
of doctors accredited to the hospital where the tablet is registered. A
doctor can be searched by name or by specialization in the search textbox.

Step 4: Tap on the doctor from the displayed list. The application displays the
selected doctor in the doctor field.

Note: A prompt will be displayed informing the Coordinator that there is already an
existing Approval Request or the member if the Member or Coordinator have
made a request for the same hospital but with a different doctor. The
Coordinator can choose to proceed with the request or not based on the
response of the member (See Figure 38.0). If there is a request that has the
same details, a prompt will be displayed informing the Coordinator that
he/she cannot create a request that has the same details (See Figure 39.0).

HOW TO REQUEST FOR A MATERNITY CONSULTATION
The member, through the Coordinator, can request various Out-Patient requests
such as Maternity Consultation.

Step 1: From the Member’s Information page, tap on the


button. The application displays Out-Patient menu.

Step 2: Tap on the Maternity Consultation icon. The application displays Maternity

Note: If the member requesting for the Maternity Consultation is a male or female
but has no maternity benefit, an error message is displayed (See Figure 42.0
and Figure 43.0).

Step 3: Tap on the doctor field to select a doctor. The application displays the list
of doctors accredited to the hospital where the tablet is registered. A

Note: A prompt will be displayed informing the Coordinator that there is already an
existing Approval request for the member if the Member or Coordinator have
made a request for the same hospital but with a different doctor. The
Coordinator can choose to proceed with the request or not based on the
response of the member (See Figure 51.0). If there is a request that has the same
details, a prompt will be displayed informing the Coordinator that he/she
cannot create a request with the same details (See Figure 52.0).

The member, through the Coordinator, can have various Out-Patient requests
such as Basic Test.
Step 1: From the Member’s Information page, tap on the

button. The application displays Out-Patient


menu.

Step 3: Tap on the requesting doctor field to select a doctor by name or by
specialization. The application displays the list of doctors accredited to the
hospital where the tablet is registered.

Note: If the price does not match the actual price, the price should be edited. To

change the price, tap on the icon to display the Change Price form. Input the

Price then tap on the button to confirm.


Otherwise, tap on the button to cancel the
changes.

Step 5: Tap on the diagnostic test field to display the list of tests. Select the diagnostic
test/s for the primary diagnosis by tapping on the checkbox beside the
diagnostic test name. Additional diagnosis can be added by tapping the ‘Add
More’ label on top of the diagnostic test field. A diagnostic test can be
removed by tapping on the icon.

Step 6: Tap on the other diagnosis field to select diagnoses from the list of other
diagnosis. A diagnosis can also be searched by typing a diagnosis name in the

Step 7: Tap on the diagnostic test field to display the list of tests. Select the diagnostic
test/s for the other diagnosis by tapping on the checkbox beside the
diagnostic test name. Additional diagnosis can be added by tapping the ‘Add
More’ button below the diagnostic test field. A diagnostic test can be
removed by tapping on the icon.

diagnosis can also be searched by typing a diagnosis name in the search

Note: On next search of the member, the IN-PATIENT button becomes UPDATE IN-
PATIENT and the Coordinator can edit the In-patient details of the member by
tapping the button.

HOW TO UPDATE IN-PATIENT


The Coordinator, through the app, can update the In-Patient details of the
member, provided that the member is currently admitted to the hospital where the
tablet is assigned.

Step 1: From the Member’s Information page, tap


to display the Update In-Patient form.

Step 2: Tap on the procedure field to display the list of procedures. Select the
procedure/s by tapping on the checkbox beside the procedure name.

icon.
