ACTIVITIES Set Induction (6 minutes)
1. The students are asked to sit in pairs for this activity.
2. The teacher will distribute a blank bubble map to all the students.
3. The students are required to watch the video shown.

4. The students are then required to list down the qualities of their partner in

the blank bubble map that are given. (appendix A)


5. Some students will be chosen randomly to present their filled bubble map

in front of the class.

Main activity (Guess who?) (45 minutes)


1. The students are required to stay with their partner from the first activity.
2. The student are then asked to choose who will be the first and second

player.
3. The teacher will pass a box filled with names of the students around the

class. (appendix D)
4. The first player from each pair will select one random name from the box

and place the card on their forehead.


5. The second player from each pair will then try to help the their partner to

Reflective Essay. (Course)

I have been a TESL student in UPSI for four semesters, and in semester

four, we were required to register for a class under our major subjects and

that class is The development of literacy skills class. The aim of this course is

to train prospective English teachers to create and plan activities, content,

materials and pedagogical method that can help to support the development

of literacy skills among learners. I have taken this course for one semester

and I can say that I learn a lot from this particular course. This course is

suitable for me as I am training to be an English teacher in the future therefore

the knowledge that I learn from throughout this course are beneficial to me. In

this course, I learn to include literacy in my method of teaching. I am

encourage to use various of method and literacy skills to help in my teaching.

I have also learned the stage of literacy and this knowledge is very important

as it can help me to design a suitable activity for my students according to

their level of proficiency and stage of literacy. Most importantly I have learned

how important literacy in the study of language are.

There are a couple of things that I do feel I lack especially in creating

suitable activity for learners and the confidence and suitable skill to perform,

and that is what I hope to gain from taking this course. I am scared to teach

students because I do not know how to share my knowledge with students

who may not have any idea what I am talking about. I hope to learn more
about how future teachers share their knowledge as part of my expectation for

this course.

This course definitely help me to gain my confidence to interact and

communicate with my potential students as it help me to study my future

students to help me as an educator. This course introduce me to need

analysis theory that focuses on the learners’ communicative needs that are

very important in language learning.

Reflective essay (Assignment)

Throughout the period of me doing this assignment, I learn a lot of things

such as the important of teamwork and so many more. I learn that in order for

one team to be able to successfully complete a task, they have to work

together in a team. Teamwork is very important especially in regard to task

that need all the members to work together to produce an excellent work. I am

lucky and thankful that I have a very effective team member to help me in this

group assignment. They are always ready and prepare whenever we need to

meet and discuss about the assignment.

Next, other important things that I learn from the process of doing this

assignment is the important of thinking and creating an activity that are

suitable for the students but yet still in their curricular syllabus. In Malaysia, all

the educational syllabus are standardized throughout the nation, therefore it is

very important for a teacher to design an activity that can help the student to

understand the lesson and yet fulfill the requirement state by the education

government.

Finally, I also learn about the important of designing activities that are

suitable for students based on their proficiency level. This is very important for

future teacher because as an educator we need to know how to suit our

activity to our students’ proficiency level so that they can do the activity thus

be able to achieve the objective that are set. Teacher must be able to design

an activity that are not only fun but also beneficial for their student to learn

and have fun on the same time.
