CLAT
The Tamil Nadu National Law School (TNNLS) is a University
established by Tamil Nadu Act 9 of 2012 to provide quality legal
education. TNNLS is the first national level university in the State
of Tamil Nadu to disseminate learning and knowledge of law, legal
processes, advocacy and skills, keeping pace with the changing global
scenario and to meet the challenges brought about by globalization.

The  University Grants Commission  (UGC) has recognized and

approved TNNLS under  Section 2(f) and under Section  12 B of  the
UGC Act, 1956. TNNLS has received recognition from the Bar Council
of India (BCI) for the programmes it offers. TNNLS is also a member of
the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), a permanent institutional
member of Indian Academy of Social Sciences, and a member of the Prof. (Dr.) Kamala Sankaran
Vice-Chancellor
Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute.

TNNLS is a residential University with nearly 30 dedicated teachers,

600 students from various parts of country and 50 administrative
and supporting staff. It is located in a 25 acre self-contained
beautiful campus with flora and fauna at Navalurkuttappattu on the
Tiruchirappalli - Dindigul NH 45 which is 9.6 k.m from Tiruchirappalli
Railway Junction and 12 Kms from the Airport. Tiruchirappalli, known
as ‘Rock Fort City’ is located in the centre of the State of Tamil Nadu
and is well connected by road, rail and air. TNNLS is now in its fifth
academic year and the successful first batch will pass out in 2018.

The District and Sessions Court and other Sub-ordinate Courts are
situated within a radius of 10 k.m. of TNNLS campus which facilitates Mr. T. Vengadesan

 an easy and effective interaction between the
TNNLS, the Courts and the Bar.
Professors of international repute from world-
class foreign Universities as well as Judges, Senior
Advocates, Academicians, Practitioners and other
subject experts visit TNNLS and offer short term
courses and special lectures on various emerging
areas that create an interest and opportunity for
the students to choose their relevant area of future
work /specialisation.
The campus life in TNNLS is very vibrant. There
are separate student run committees for Legal

Aid Activities, Cultural Activities, Sports, Moot
Court, Internship and Placements. In addition,
students may opt to join the Environmental Club,
Photography Club, Film Club, Debate Club etc.,
based on their interests. Students are offered
special training for co-curricular activities like Moot
Court and Alternate Dispute Resolution mechanism.
Adequate infrastructural facilities with separate
Administrative, Academic, Amenities, Examination
and Library Blocks, Halls of Residence for Men
and Women students, Moot Court Hall, Mess,
Gym, Examination Hall, Auditorium, Faculty and
Staff Quarters as well as Guest House have been
constructed.
The amenities in the campus include Canteen,
Games and Sports, Wi-Fi Facility, Bank, ATM, Post
Office, stationery and printing shop. TNNLS also
has a health care centre with a visiting Doctor and a

Resident Nurse. A Government ambulance is also
stationed on campus for emergencies.
TNNLS offers the following programmes:
a) A five year integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.)
Programme - intake 55 students
b) A five year integrated B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.)

c) One year LL.M. Programme - total intake 18
students
i) LL.M. (Corporate and Securities Laws)**
ii) LL.M. (Intellectual Property Laws) **
iii) LL.M. (Natural Resources Law) **
** The LL.M. stream(s) to be offered for the
academic year 2017-18 will be subject to the
availability of faculty and other administrative
considerations.
The one year LL.M. is a regular, full time
intensive programme on semester pattern. As
per UGC guidelines, a candidate admitted to
the one-year programme shall complete an
overall nine courses and a dissertation for the
award of the degree.
d) Ph.D. Programme
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION TO B.A.LL.B.(Hons.)
and B.Com. LL.B.(Hons.) PROGRAMMES
Higher Secondary (10+2) / CBSE / other examination
recognized as equivalent thereto with not less than
45% of marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC/ST
candidates). The applicant should be a candidate
who participated in the Common Law Admission
Test (CLAT-2018). This does not apply for those
applying under NRI Quota. Applications for seats
under the NRI quota will be separately notified on
the TNNLS website.
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION TO
LL.M.PROGRAMMES
Three / Five years B.L. or LL.B. or B.L. (Hons.) or
LL.B. (Hons.) or its equivalent with not less than
fifty five percent (55%) marks in case of candidates
belonging to Unreserved / Backward Classes
(Others) (BC(O))/ Backward Class (Muslim) (BC(M))
/Most Backward Classes (MBC )/ Denotified
Communities (DNC) / Specially Abled Persons
(SAP) and other categories, and fifty percent (50%)
marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST
category.
SCHOLARSHIPS
CLAT
TNNLS Scholarship Policy offers limited / need-
based scholarship to students. In addition,
government funded scholarships are also available
based on eligibility.
