Universal Design for Learning (UDL) The technology tool that we will be using for this lesson is iMovie app.
The students will be able to watch and listen carefully about some important historical information about
Martin Luther King Jr. Students will be able to visualize and learn about the importance of MLK. The
technology that is selected for this lesson is appropriate for all students. Students will be able to access the
video at home since the video will be posted on the teacher’s blog.
Lesson idea implementation:
The students will watch the MLK video at home part of the flipped classroom. Students will be able to write
down a few words that stood out to them the most. Parents will be able to help the children out. Each
student must have 2 words that they thought would be important. After that, students will come together in
the classroom in groups of 4.
Each group will display all of their words by writing them on the poster. After that, each group will present
their words and explain why each of the words that students chose is important. Every student will be able to
explain how each of the word plays an important role, and how it connects to MLK. The way that students
learning can be extended is by all the groups coming together and making a classroom poster. The teacher
will be able to hang up the poster so students can refer to it when studying MLK. Also, the students can learn
about another historical figure as well as post their work online, which will bring the LoTi level to a 4.
The flipped classroom will enforce students how to work on their own and then coming together in groups
to present their posters. This will teach students group work skills. Using technology will motivate the
students to a whole different level and make learning fun.

Using a multimedia tool will make this lesson stronger. Students will be able to visualize and understand
better by watching and listening to the video. The lesson can be done by just reading the information, but it’s
been said that since some students are visual learners, it is much better when students get to see pictures.
Other technologies can be used for this lesson. For example, like, a recorder that will just record the voice
background of the video. Students will still have a better outcome of learning some new information by
listening or watching the video.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy:
Some issues that may occur while using the Internet is students accessing wrong information or finding other
inappropriate information. Teachers will have to get the parents’ permission in order to allow students to
access the video online in the classroom. Parents can be sent out permission slips. Teachers should always
have a prof of whether or not the parents allowed the student to join or not
Reflective Practice: After designing the lesson, I feel that the students will have fun learning about MLK and
his historical importance in our lives. Students will be motivated and even surprised from what information
they learn after watching the video. This lesson can be used before or after introducing the main lesson.
Overall, the students will have fun learning about MLK.
