Use gap - fillers to buy time and not leave blanks in conversation:

1. If I don't know the answer to something, I could say:

5. If someone does not understand you, before you start to explain yourself again, you
could say:

to say is..." "What I'm trying to talk is..."

6. To get someone to stop talking. I could say in a forceful voice:


Now then, look here..." "Now next, look here..." "Now slowly, look here..."

7. To find a different way of saying something, I could say:

"What's the word for looking?" "What's the word I'm looking for?" "What's
the language I'm looking for?"
