1 GENERAL
1.1 OUTLINE OF STRUCTURE
Project : MUARA LABOH GEOTHERMAL POWER PROJECT STAGE 1 DEVELOPMENT EPC

Location : MUARA LABOH, SOLOK SELATAN, SUMATERA BARAT, INDONESIA
Structure : ROAD & PAVEMENT WELLPAD ML-F

1.2 DESIGN PHILOSOPHY


The objective of this calculation is to design road and pavement of Muara Laboh Geothermal Power Project Facilities
which is consisting of flexible pavement. These pavements are design for 30 years of life cycle time with assumed traffic
load data from previous project.

1.3 APPLICABLE SPECIFICATION, CODES, AND STANDARDS

a. Standard Specification for Geometric Design of Highway Road No. 13/17 by Dirjen Binamarga

Pengembangan PU Pusat Penelitian dan Pengembangan Jalan.

1.4 MATERIAL PROPERTIES


1.4.1. Unit Measurement
Unit of measurement used in design is metric system.

1.4.2. Quality of Material


a. Flexible Pavement :
- Surface Course = Asphalt Concrete Wearing Coarse (ACWC)
- Base Coarse = Crushed Stone (Class B) CBR 80 %
1 - Sub Base Coarse = Gravel with sand (Class C) CBR 30 %
- Sub Grade = Compacted Soil to 95% CBR 6%
Standard Proctor (ASTM D-698-91)

1.4.3. Unit Weight


Unit weight of major construction materials shall be as follows :
- Soil : 1700 kg/m3
- Gravel with sand, natural : 1600 kg/m3
- Water : 1000 kg/m3

1.4.4. Computer Software


Computer Software used in design analysis is MS-Excel.

2. FLEXIBLE PAVEMENT DESIGN

2.1. Traffic Load Data (assumption)


According to Technical Requirements (Doc. No. ML-PRD-SPC-0013 Rev.3), traffic for Wellpad can be seen as below:

2.5. Calculation Thickness of Pavement Index (ITP)

Parameters :

1. Surface Drainage for slope < 6% ; heavy veh. < 30% ; Weather ( rainfall/year) > 900 mm
FR = 1.5 ( see Attachment 1D )
2. Surface Index (IP) for LER 10 - 100, Assume that road classification : Local
IP = 1.5 ( see Attachment 1E )
3. Surface Index at the first period Design (IPo)
IPo = 4.0 ( see Attachment 1E )
4. Kekuatan Tanah Dasar
CBR = 6% DDT = 5.0 ( See Attachment 1F )
From Parameters 1,2,3,4 (see Attachment 2H to find ITP value) so :
ITP design = 8.2 ( See Attachment 1G )

2.6. Thickness Design of Pavement

ITP = a1*D1+a2*D2+a3*D3
Where : a is a relative coefisien stength
D is a thickness for each layer

Thickness and a Value for pavement :


- Value for :
a. Asphalt Concrete Wearing Coarse (ACWC) a1 = 0.35 (see Attachment 2H)
b. Crushed Stone (Class B) a2 = 0.13 (see Attachment 2H)
c. Gravel with sand (Class C) a3 = 0.11 (see Attachment 2H)

- Thickness of pavement for ITP Value :


a. Asphalt Concrete Wearing Coarse (ACWC) D1 = 5 cm
b. Crushed Stone (Class B) D2 = 10 cm
c. Gravel with sand (Class C) D3 = 47 cm

Calculation

ITP = a1 D1 + a2 D2 + a3 D3
Layer use :
Asphalt Concrete Wearing Coarse (ACWC) D1 = 5 cm
Crushed Stone (Class B) D2 = 10 cm
Gravel with sand (Class C) D3 = 47 cm
