Lesson Plan in Statistics and Probability 11 10:00-11:00 Amber
11:00-12:00 Crystal
Date: February 11, 2019 2:00-3:00 Beryl
Time Frame: 60 mins.

I. OBJECTIVES:
1. Illustrates the Central limit Theorem. (M11/12SP-IIIe-2)
2. Solves the sampling distribution of the sample mean using the Central Limit Theorem.
(M11/12SP-IIIe-3)

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

1. Topic: Central Limit Theorem
2. Reference: CG, Statistics Books
3. Materials: Laptop, Projector

III. PROCEDURE:
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Routine Activities
1.1 Prayer
1.2 Greetings
1.3 Checking of Attendance
1.4 Energizer

2. Review
- Sampling from the Normal Distribution.

3. Motivation/Presentation of Lesson
-the teacher will present a situation and the students are asked to share their insights or
opinions regarding the situation.

B. Development of Lesson
1. Activity
- Do work sheet number 3-01 (refer to CG page 215)

2. Analysis
- Think about the relationship between the sample size and the shape of the distribution
of the sample proportion, what do you notice?

3. Abstract/Generalization
- How will you define central limit theorem?
- How important the sample size are to the distribution of the sample data?

4. Application
a. An electrical firm manufactures light bulbs that have a length of life that is
approximately normally distributed, with mean equal to 800 hours and standard
deviation of 40 hours. Find the probability that a random sample of 16 bulbs will have
an average life less than 775 hours.

b. A samples of size 40 is taken from a population 𝑋 that follows a Possion distribution

with µ=4. Find the probability that the sample mean is less than 3.85

IV. EVALUATION:
1. The heights of 1000 students are approximately normally distributed with a mean of 174.5
centimeters and a standard deviation of 6.9 centimeters. If 200 random samples of size 25 are
drawn from this population and the means recorded to the nearest tenth of a centimeter,
determine
a) The mean and standard error of the sampling distribution of 𝑋̅;
b) The number of sample means that fall between 172.5 and 175.8 centimeters inclusive;
c) The number of sample means falling below 172.0 centimeters.

V. ASSIGNMENT:
1. On a short bond paper, write down the T-Distribution Table.
