DEFINICIÓN
Ninguno de los biomateriales metálicos es bioactivo por sí solo. Sin embargo, se pueden
considerar dos enfoques para obtener metales bioactivos:
• El primero consiste en recubrir la superficie del implante con una cerámica bioactiva.
• El segundo es modificar químicamente la superficie del material para obtener la deposición de
una cerámica bioactiva in vivo o para inducir proteínas y adhesión celular y otras interacciones
tejido/material.
